Ruble's Church

 

[Draft of a Deed for "Ruble's
Church."- VES.]


This Deed made this the 10th day of
November 1898 by and between
Martin Huffman party of the
first part and S. L. Ruble, D. J.
Caldwell and G. W. Snodgrass
Trustees of Ruble's Church and
their successors, parties of the
second part:
Witnesseth, that, for and in
consideration of the sum of One
Dollar cash in hand, paid to the
parties of the first part, the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged,
and other good and valuable
considerations, received by the said
party of the first part, before the
sealing and signing of these
presents, the said party of the
first part doth grant and con-
firm and convey unto the par-
ties of the second part, with
covenants of General Warranty,
all and singular the following
described piece of real estate
lying and being on the waters
of John Creek in Craig County
Virginia, adjoinning the lands of
the grantor and certain of the
heirs of James Ruble deed: and is a
part of the real estate purchased
by the grantor from James H. Looney
and known as the Joseph Looney Farm,
and the part of the same hereby
conveyed is bounded as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at the road at a pin oak
on thet line of J. A. Ruble, thence N
with said line nine and one-
fourth (9-1/4) poles to Ruble's
corner on black oak, thence
on the line with said line four
(4) poles to two pines, corner of
lot, thence W nine (9) poles
to a gum and hickory, corner of
lot, thence S nine (9) poles to
two (2) pines on the road side corner
of lot, thence E ten (10) poles to
the beginning, to have and to hold
unto the said S. L. Ruble, D. J. Cald-
well and G. W. Snodgrass, Trustees
and their successors, for ever; but
for the following purposes, and
none other, to-wit:
That the same be held by the parties
of the second part, and their succes-
sors, solely and exclusively as
a church or meeting house site, for
the worship of God, and be known
as "Ruble's Church", and held
by them firstly, for the benefit
of the congregation of the "Chris-
tian Church" worshiping at said
point, and secondly for the benefit
of all Protestant Denominations,
or branches or sects of the Protes-
tant Church of God; and in
which all with the "Christian
Church" above mentioned shall
have an equal and like
interest and right and to
the use of which all shall
enjoy the same and
equal privileges.
The party of the first part
covenants that he has the
right to convey said real estate,
that he has done no act to
encumber the same, and
that the parties of the second part,
and their successors, shall have
peacable and quiet possession of
the premises hereby conveyed.
Witness the following signa-
ture and seal, this the
10th day of November 1898
