COOPER, ROE, POWELL - I am seeking information on my ancestors who resided in Elizabeth City County from about 1710-1773. The surnames are Cooper and Roe. Philip Cooper married first Mary Roe and second Elizabeth Roe. They had several children, Jane, Courtney, Charlotte, Robert, Roe, John and Elizabeth to name a few. I do have some information on Philip Cooper but none on Elizabeth Roe. After Philip's death in 1773 she left the area and resettled in Amherst County. Philip left a large estate, but left everything to his children. When Elizabeth settled in Amherst County her husband Lucas became guardian of the children and executor of Philip's estate. Elizabeth married Lucas Powell who may also have originated in Elizabeth City. There may be a family history on Philip Cooper since he was a land owner. I am seeking information on any of the individuals mentioned. Anita Wills
