Is there still a National Soldiers Home in Elizabeth City County? If so, does someone have the address? If not, does anyone know where the records might be? Thank you. Carole

PHILLIPS - Well, my wonderful correspondents on this board have disproved my theory that my g-g-grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Phillips, was the son of Benjamin Phillips (born 1804) of Elizabeth City County. "Uncle Ben" (1804) married twice, but had only one child, Alice. So back to the drawing board. I'm still stuck on proving a connection to this line of Phillipses, however, because there appears to be so much similarity in the names of Benjamin Franklin Phillips's children's names and this Accomack County/Elizabeth City County family. I suppose I'm just wishfully thinking. But if this family rings any bells for any of you, just let me know. Here are the names of Benjamin Franklin Phillip's (born 1827, where?; died 1893, in Lenoir County, North Carolina) children. His wife was Elizabeth (born 1835, died 1890). Belinda Susan Phillips, born 1856 Margaret Elizabeth Phillips, born 1858 Eliser Ann V. Phillips, born 1860 Charles Franklin Phillips, born 1863 Peter Phillips, born 1862 May Elender Phillips, born 1866 Nancy Cathron Phillips, born 1867 Julah (or Julia) Frances Phillips, born 1869 David Phillips, born 1870 Benjamin Phillips, born 1870 Martha Ann Phillips, born 1874 John Thomnas Phillips, born 1875 Hannah Mai Phillips, born 1877 Thanks.

WHYBARK, HILL - I (Georgia Whybark)was born in the Elizabeth Buxton Hospital, Newport News, Virginia, Elizabeth City county, in 1928. My sister was also born there in 1927. My mother and father (Pearl Hill and George Whybark) were married in St. John's Church in Newport News in 1912 or 1913, I'm not sure which. I am trying to get a copy of their marriage certificate. Can anyone help?

EBSWORTH - I am looking for information regarding Agnes and Anthony Ebsworth whowere part of the colony founded by Captn Smith. As far as I can find, they were last recorded in Elizabeth County in 1624. No one seems to know this name or family! But it obviously didn't "die out" because I'm here! I'd appreciate any help.
