BOOKER , MALLORY, SHIELD - I am looking for information about a portrait sitter, Catherine Beverly Mallory, said to have been the daughter of Charles King Mallory and his wife Frances. She is said to have been born 1804 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia and married Armisteed Booker at age 14 years. A twentieth-century owner of a portrait, Willaim W. Shields, is recorded as having lived in Norfolk, Va. There may be a second portrait of this girl, also signed by James Peale. I would appreciate learning more about Catherine Mallory, her descendants, the whereabouts of her portaits or portrait and their owners.
