MYERS, MEYERS, MEYER,,MOYER ,MOYERS - According to a marriage record, below, Wm. R. Myers [father of the groom Wm. V.] was b. in Hampton Co. Va. From an 1850 Law. Co. KY Census, Wm. R. was b. abt 1812 VA. He m. Matilda Ann Jividen* in Gallia Co. OH in 1833. *[6 levels down fron Antoine Gevaudan of Manakin Town, VA] It is unlikely that there would be a birth record in Hampton in 1812. There may be tax records. Of course I don't know the name of his father, but I might be able to narrow the field. I'm requesting advice on where/how to search for him. Thank you. A J

Biography by Lyon Gardiner Tyler Page 353 Waters, Edward, born 1584, and left England for Virginia in the same ship, the Seaventure, which brought Sir Thomas Gates, as first governor of Virginia under the second charter (1609); wrecked on the Bermudas; went with the other castaways to Jamestown in 1610; in the same year returned with Sir George Somers to Bermuda; when Matthew Somers sailed for England he was one of the three who remained to hold the island for England and found an immense piece of ambergria; member of the council of Bermuda;left Bermuda for Virginia in 1618 or 1619; married, probably about 1620, Grace O'Niel; taken prisoner with his wife by the Indians of Nansemond at the great massacre in 1622; escaped, and in January, 1625, was living at Blunt Point, James River, with his wife and two children, William and Margaret. He had the rank of captain and in 1628 was appointed commander of the plantations in Elizabeth City Co.; burgess in 1625. He is sometimes confounded with Robert Waters, left behind by Gates in the Bermudas, when he sailed in 1610 for Jamestown, and who killed a man. Page 354 Waters, William, son of Edward Waters, of Ellizabeth City Co., was high sheriff of Northampton county in 1652, major of militia in March 1652 and a justice of the quorum; burgess for Northampton in 1654 and 1659-1660. He married the widow of George Clarke, and his will probated in 1685 names sons William, Richard, Thomas, John, Obedience and Edward. Waters, William, son of Major William Waters, was sheriff for Northampton county in 1696 and burgess in 1696, 1705, 1714, 1718 and 1720. He died before 1722.
