NOEL, WARING, UPSHAW, GARDNER - I am searching for information on the Noel line prior to Theodoric Noel and his son, Silas Mercer Noel. I am also trying to clear up confusion regarding the parentage of the wife of Silas Mercer Noel: Maria Waring, daughter of Captain Robert Payne Waring. It is not clear if she is the daughter of Robert Payne Waring I or Robert Payne Waring II, and she is listed as the daughter of Sarah Upshaw, wife of RPW II, and as the daughter of Elizabeth Gardner, third wife of RPW I. Any information regarding these two lines would be helpful in straightening out this confusing situation. I have a date of birth of Maria Waring as 1790, and a date of birth for Silas Mercer Noel as 13 August 1783. They were married in 1805. I have no information regarding Elizabeth Gardner.

MEADE, MINOR, VIVION - My ancestor HENRY MEADE was possibly the son of JOHN MEADE, who, along with other MEADES,lived in ESSEX COUNTY. HENRY MEADE had sons named MINOR and VIVION, strongly suggesting a connection to the MINOR and VIVION families. In ESSEX Co., at the intersection of Rt. 621 and 622 is a tiny community named MINOR. Continue up Rt.622 only two miles and at its intersection with Rt.620 is another tiny settlement named MEADE!! Can anyone tell me what MINORS and MEADES lived in these areas and any known marriages between these families (prior to 1760)?? I will be terribly grateful for any information on this. Bob Hancock, Rt 3, Box 32 Castlewood, Va.
