Will of Samuel Stallard
Will dated December 02, 1720. Essex County, Virginia Will Book 3, 1717-1722, page 227.
In the name of God, Amen: I, Samuel Stallard of the Parrish of St. Ann in
the County of Essex, being sick and week, but of perfect Sense and memory,
thanks be to Almighty God for the same, do make this my Last Will and
Testament, making void all other wills before me made.
IMPRIMIS- I give my Soul into the Hands of the Almighty God that gave it
and my body to be buryed at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter
named, and as for what Estate it hath pleased God to bestow on me in this
world I give and Bequeath as Followeth:
ITEM- I give unto my son WALTER STALLARD the plantation and land whereon I
now live with all its appurtenances unto him and his heirs, forever.
ITEM- I give to my daughter SARAH STALLARD all the land which I have and
do hold in co-partnership with Charles Brown known by name of "Kirk's
Land" to her and her heirs, forever.
ITEM- I give to my daughter SARAH STALLARD my negro woman named Fellice
with all her increase (except the first child which said negro woman shall
bring) to her and her heirs forever.
ITEM- I give to my son WALTER STALARD the first child which my negro woman
Fellice shall bring forth to him and his heirs, forever.
ITEM- I give likewise to my son WALTER STALLARD one feather bed and
furniture and also my three guns and the first foal which my mare called
Swallow shall bring.
ITEM- I give to my daughter SARAH STALLARD one feather bed, furniture and
also one young mare named Swallow with all her increase except the first
foal she shall bring.
ITEM- I give all the rest of my estate to my loving wife, Grace Stallard
to her and her heirs forever, she paying all my Lawful Debts.
ITEM- I will that JOHN BOULWARE have that land which I purchased of Robert
Parker and his wife as by lease and release more plainly will appear to be
lawfully made sure to him and said John Boulware and his heirs forever as
soon as he shall come to the age of 21 years by my Executrix hereafter
named, the said John Boulware repaying to my said Executrix the purchase
of the said land with all costs.
LASTLY: I appoint, constitute, and ordain my loving wife GRACE STALLARD my
whole and sole executrix of this last Will and Testament: in Testimony
whereof, I have here unto set my hand and affix my Seal this 2nd day of
December in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and twenty.
