Old Rappahannock Co. Deeds and Wills
December 28, 1683
Walter Stallard's will signed.
"In the name of God amen, I, Walter Stallard being sick and weake but of
good and perfect sence and memory and calling to minde the certainty of
death and the uncertainty of life do make this my last will and testament
making void all other wills by me before made, and this to be looked on
and taken for my last. IMPRIMIS- I commit my soul unto the hands of God
that gave it in sure and certain hope of a joyful resurrection by merits
of my sweet loving Jesus Christ and my body to be buried at the discretion
of my Electrix hereafter named and for what estate it hath pleased God of
his goodness to bestow on me I give and bequeath as follows: ITEM- I will
that all my just debts that I owe to any man be well and fully paid. ITEM-
I give unto my son Samuel and my daughter Sarah all my land housing and
orchards to them and to their lawful heirs to be equally divided by honest
means and it being devided my son to have his choice and if one of them
die not having issue as above said than the other to enjoy the whole to
his heir or to her heirs forever. ITEM- I give unto my son and daughter
each of them two cows and all their female encrease to be delivered at the
age of 21 years or day of marriage which shall first happen. ITEM- I give
to my son and daughter above said one heifer two cow yearlings and the
first cow and calfe that any of my cowes do bring together with their
female increase to them and their heirs as above said. ITEM- I give my bay
horse to my son Samuel and to his heirs. ITEM- I give to my daughter Sarah
my black horse called Rall and to her heirs forever. ITEM- I give to my
son one Pottanger and one pewter dish to be pd when he comes of age. ITEM-
I give to my daughter one Pottanger and one pewter salt to be paid when
she comes of age. ITEM- The rest of my estate, I give to my loving wife
together with the male colts and Bull Calves that come from my childrens
mares and ows for the payment of my debts and bringing up of my children.
ITEM- I constitute and appoint my loving wife Winifred my sole Executrix
of this last will and testament and testimony of this and what is wrote on
the other side I have sett to my hand and seale this 28th day of Dec.
1683"
