Lewis Emmett Simmons
He was a son of Brother N. L. and Sister Lavinia Semones, of
He was united in marriage to Miss Ideila P. Gardner on the 2nd day of May 1894. He leaves his wife and live children, two girls and, Laura Lettie, Erna; and three boys, Forest Green, Paul and Everett Emmett, his aged father and mother, one brother, J. A. Semones, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna .Jane Burroughs, Mrs. Mary Vincent, and Mrs. Nora Thompson, all to weep because he is absent from them.
About six months before his death his health began to fail; but, was, contained to his room only two weeks. He died of cancer of the glands.
While he was sick, he told his mother that he believed he would leave all of his troubles here on earth, His last words were, "I am gone." Gone from and to what? According to his expressed hope, he is gone from all of the troubles and sorrows of this life to a world where perfect place, love, joy and endless glory is found.
His funeral was conducted by Elders Isaac Webb and J. D, Vass, in the presence of a large concourse of friends, who gathered around his grave as an expression of their love to the deceased and a manifestation of their sympathy for all who sorrowed on the occasion.
