GROSS, JONES, REDPATH, SUMPTER -
George SUMPTER and Elizabeth GROSS lived in Franklin and Montgomery counties VA. In George's will (1805) he mentions three sons by name: Richard, Edmond and George, and refers to "daughters" but not by name. My ancestor is his daughter Sarah SUMPTER b. ca 1769-75 who married John JONES in 1790 in Franklin County VA (surety Solomon JONES). Children of John JONES and Sarah SUMPTER, all of whom are mentioned in John JONES will (1847, Randolph county IN) are: Solomon, Elizabeth, Franke (Fanny), Lucy, Abigail, Sarah, Sinthy, Allean (Alice), Anna (my line).. I have marriage records of the seven girls married in Ohio, one in Indiana and one in Missouri. In the will Solomon is only mentioned as the father of grand-daughter Julian REDPATH and grandson Jacob JONES and George and John are not mentioned at all. The wife Sally mentioned in the will is the second wife of John according to a letter written by daughter Anna asking about her "step-mother". So what happened to Sarah SUMPTER? Marion in Michigan

HALE -
I am looking for anything on the parents of Jonathon Hale who died in Scott, Co.. His death certificate lists birth 1796 in Franklin Co., parents as Richard and Maatilda ?? Hale . The writing is very hard to decipher but I had a researcher look at the name and she felt this was correct. These were my gr-gr-gr grandfather and ggggrand mother and I have hit a stone wall now. In the 1790 census done by Thomas Hale ,there are 2 Hales {John and Thomas}. I have seen Thomas Hale's genealogy and I do not find a connection. Jonothan went to Scott Co. His children were William, John S., James C. and Henderson Hale. Henderson died in 1850s. William went to Barry CO, Mo as did John and his wife Nancy. John is listed on the census as a Deputy clerk or Sheriff. William died in Mo. and his wife Kezziah went back to Scott Co with her children. Some stayed in Scott Co and some to Rockcastle Co, Ky. I have no idea what happened to John and Nancy or if they had children

RITTER, WILSON -
Does anyone have information on a John WILSON who married Elizabeth ???? (maybe in Franklin County in 1700s). They had nine children when he wrote his will in Barren County, KY, in 1809. I have reason to believe that they were from Franklin County, VA, since I understand their daughter Delilah Wilson, married John RITTER in Franklin County in 1793. I especially would like a marriage date and place for John and Elizabeth WILSON and Elizabeth's maiden name.
