BAKER, FISHER, GRISSO, PEFLEY -
I am a descendant of Samuel FISHER, son of Jacob and Sarah (PEFLEY) FISHER who married in Nov. 1821, in Botetourt Co. Other children include: Anna, Elizabeth, Mary, Susan, Catherine, Sarah, Jacob, Hannah, George and Martha. The family later lived in Franklin Co. VA, where Samuel married Rebecca GRISSO, daughter of Jacob and Rebecca (BAKER) GRISSO, on July 4, 1843. By 1870, the family had moved to Carroll Co. IN. Would like to exchange information with any who are interested in these families.

CLOWERS - GREEN - BOWLES - COOPER were related by marriage. I know GREEN - CLOWERS were in Franklin County, VA during the 17-1800's.

Looking for information on a man by the surname of SHORT. He married Sarah D SHORT and they had a daughter by the name of Alberta A. SHORT in 1862. The father died sometime between 1862 and 1868 and Sarah remarried a man named Thomas INGRAM. Thomas INGRAM and wife Sarah were listed on the Franklin County census in 1870. They are buried in the Ingram cemetery in Franklin county. Any information on the SHORT's of Franklin or Floyd County would be appreciated.

Looking for William C. GRIFFITH, Jr. born 11-4-1758 in Franklin County, Virginia and died in Anderson County, Tennessee. He married Susanna JONES on 8-3-1782 in Henry or Franklin County, Virginia. She was born on 4-6-1765 in Blackwater Creek, Franklin County, Virginia and died 2-10-1843 in Anderson County, Tennessee. They had 12 children. The history of my family starts with Jacob and Artemia CROOK They raised William Jacob Crook FRALIN in their home. He married their daughter Susan and they had 7 children. The first three had the name of Crook but at this point the rest were given the FRALIN name, not sure as to why this took place. my great grandfather was Daniel Madison CROOK born in Franklin co. my grandfather was DeWitt CROOK he was born in Boones Mill Va he later moved to Ohio. Looking for anyone with info on the CROOK or FRALIN clan.

ISO info on GGFather Steven Oscar EASTER who married Agnes Gertrude CARPENTER of Roanoke, VA in 1906. I believe he is the son of Joel and Mary F. EASTER of Franklin County, Va. as listed in the 1880 Census. It stated that Joel and Mary had 9 children among them a Stephen. Married (1) Sarah DIVERS m. 16 May 1818 Franklin Co (2) Jane WINGO m. 8 Jan 1831 and (3) Mary Ann BETZ m. 8 Feb 1853. Son, William Aaron POWELL b. 12 Feb 1821 Franklin Co d. 26 Jul 1882 Franklin Co, buried Wm Aaron Powell Cemetery on his own farm near Scruggs Va which I would like to locate. Am interested in any info re Berry WOODS who m first Deliah PROFIT, Franklin Co, VA in the 1830s and second, Abigail QUINLEY, Smyth Co in the 1840s. Berry's father may have been Peter or Josiah WOOD who came from possibly Amherst Co. There may be a connection between Francis WOOD m Nancy who bought land in Lee Co, VA in 1819 and Joseph WOOD m Mary who bought land in Lee Co in 1822. In the 1860 census it shows that Francis WOODS was b in Charlotte Co, VA but in the 1870 census it shows both he and his wife b in Amherst Co, VA. Berry Woods was my gr grandfather.
