CHANDLER, CHAVERS -
I am looking for any information on Ellison Chavers. He married Susannah Chandler in 1825 in Franklin Co. VA, he was listed in the 1830 Census of Franklin Co. VA. I have his estate papers from the 1840s in Franklin County. I just can't find him anywhere prior to 1825 Franklin Co. If anyone has any information on him or his family please contact me.

Looking for information about James Whorley (Whirley, Worley). I found him in the 1870 Franklin Co. census index (p. 370, Long Branch Twp); can someone provide the actual data for the household he's in? Is this 1870 James the same as: 1. James Whorly, 1850 Floyd Co census, "in jail", age 22? 2. James Whirley married Elizabeth Swiney/ Sweeney in 1849? Trying to uncover relationships between Worley/ Moore/ Sweeney in Franklin/Floyd, 1800-1870.

I am trying to determine precisely where to get copies of the wills of Robert Woods (1719-1811) and his son, John Woods (1756-1800). Both of these individuals died in Franklin County VA and, at least back in 1915, one researcher obtained copies from someplace in Franklin County. Accordingly, I suspect they remain extant. This particular Woods family (according to maps circa 1750) owned property just below Sydnorsville on Little Chestnut Creek. I have found a reference that this property was known as Freecastle. It should be noted that, if I cannot order them directly from some repository, I am amenable to contracting with a researcher to obtain the two documents. Thanks for any information or suggestions. Looking for information on Rosa Ann MOORE (born Rocky Mount, VA on 9/21/1883 & died 11/8/1859 Mercer Co., WV) married on 2/14/1900 to Eli Thomas BAILEY (son of Wilson Lee Bailey and Elizabeth McComas) in Mercer Co., WV. Her death certificate lists her parents as William MOORE and Mary KINGREA. The family relocated from Franklin County to Mercer County sometime after 1885. I am interested in any information or prospective leads regarding the MOORE and/or KINGREA/ KINGERY families and will be glad to share what info I have. Thank You.

Alsup TAYLOR was in Bedford County as early as 1800 where he was surety for Washington TAYLOR. His wife Penelope ANGEL TAYLOR was my 4 g grandfather's sister. They were in Franklin County, VA after 1810 and before 1820. Who were their children? What connection if any to the GAULDENs. He was Surety for Susannah GAULDEN married a ?ROSS in 1810 in Bedford.Thanks for your help. Lois Cleveland in Alabama

Seek information on father of John Poteet DODD b. Franklin Co. 29 Nov 1784. Mother was Sarah Poteet DODD dau of William and Keziah POTEET. Sarah believed to be widow by 1800. Siblings of John Poteet Dodd were Susannah MARSHALL, Elizabeth HENLEY, Rebecca, Rachel HARRISON, Mary (Polly) HARRISON, William (died War of 1812) and Lewis DODD. John Poteet DODD married Sarah DICKERSON dau of Elijah DICKERSON 27 May 1806.

Looking for the parents of "Rebecca A." or "Annie" or "Anna" or "Ann" ALDRIDGE. She was the wife of Riley D. COLLINS. According to the IGI (in which she appears as "Anna"), they married in Floyd County, VA on 16 Dec 1874. They appear on the 1900 Franklin County census (she is called "Rebecca A.") and the 1910 Roanoke census (she appears as "Annie"). I see no births for her under any of the name "Rebecca" or "Annie" in the IGI, but the only one listed who's birth is about right is a "Ann ALDRIDGE" born 1859 in Franklin County to a Madison ALDRIDGE and Mary GIBSON. Does anyone know if these are the same "Ann.. ALDRIDGE"? I've seen Riley's father, Thomas COLLINS (husband of Elizabeth BOOTHE), who's in the 1850 Floyd Co. census, listed as being born abt 1800 in both Giles County and Montgomery County. Which is right, was he born in Giles or Montgomery? Who were Thomas' parents? Riley's daughter Sally married Jessie BOOTHE, son of Joseph BOOTHE and Mary SHIVELY. Does anyone know who Joseph and Mary's parents were?

Seeking info on Philip Angling Webb b.1828 in Franklin Co. Va. I am hoping to tie him with my great grandfather James W. Webb b. 1847 in VA. county is undecided. His father's name ????. John Webb was said to have had a brother named Philip. James Webb moved to KY at least by 1872 that is the date of his marriage. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am at a dead end with very little to go on.

gggg grandfather Isham Hodges was born approx. 1730-1732 probably in Franklin Cty or Henry Va. He died in 1782 in Henry Va. (don't know whether Henry is a Cty or town). He married Nancy Hill b 1740 (?) d 1774 (?). Looking for info prior to 1730 on both. Thanks.

Need info on parents of Hiram MILLS, Sr. Possibly Arthur MILLS (b.1770) and Nancy WEST (b.1765) (m. 8-18-1800) Nancy was the daughter of Jenny ABSHIRE (WEST) and unknown WEST. Hiram MILLS, Sr. Married Christina WRIGHT, 6-17-1825 (daughter of George WRIGHT, Jr. And Polly ABSHIRE). Polly was the daughter of Luke ABSHIRE. My line descends from Hiram MILLS, Jr. and his second wife, Sarah Margaret MILES (SMITH). This was also her second marriage. Descendents of this MILLS line currently reside in present day Franklin Co., Va. Thank you

I know that some changed their surname to Robinson.
