Am seeking information in the late 1700s up to 1820 on a John or Thomas DILLARD m. Lucy TALIAFERRO. They had a son named Franklin and per a couple of other sources, he is purported to have been born in Franklin Co. John died before 1820 and Lucy moved on to Winchester, KY with the children to be near her brothers. They then migrated to Callaway Co., MO. Franklin Emmett DILLARD m. two BERNARD sisters (not at the same time!) and was a physician. Any leads/thoughts/info will be most welcome as these families come out of the "burned" area of Caroline/K&Q/Essex portion of VA.

I just recently learned that my ggggrandfather, Alexander WOOD, married a second time after his first wife, Bethany BRAMMER, died. Alexander WOOD (b. 1803), son of Richard WOOD and Rachel COCKRAM, married (2) Sarah (Cochran) VEST, widow, on 18 Oct 1868 in Mercer County, WV. Sarah was listed as age 54 (b. ca. 1814) from Franklin Co., VA, the daughter of "Isom & S. COCHRAN." This from Mercer County, WV Marriages, Book 1, Page 16, Line 28. I strongly suspect that "Isom and S." were Isham COCKRAM, son of Edward COCKRAM, and his wife Sarah RAKES. Isham COCKRAM and Rachel (Cockram) WOOD were brother and sister. Am I on the right track? Did Alexander marry his cousin, Sarah? Can anyone identify the first husband of Sarah (Cochran) VEST? Does anyone know when Sarah died, and where she was buried (I suspect in WV, but she is not buried next to Alexander; only Bethany is)? Many many thanks in advance!!!

Elizabeth Bandy Greer, daughter of Richard Bandy, who left his will in Botetourt County Va. in 1795, married Aquilla Greer, Jr, (born 1744 in Baltimore Co, Md.) relocated to Bedford, later Franklin County, Va, where he died between 1782 and 1783 according to the tax records. He and Elizabeth had 6 sons: William, Asa, Elijah, Elisha, Richard, and Aquilla, III and 2 daughters: Martha Patsy and Elizabeth. William Greer returned from Oglethrope Co, Ga, in 1797, where he mirgrated with his grandfather Aquilla Greer, Sr. in 1790, to Franklin County, Va and sold the land, a grant of 330 acres that Aquilla, Jr had received from the governor of Va., to settle the estate of his late father, Aquilla Greer, Jr. Martha Patsy Greer married Braxton Brake; Elizabeth Greer married Asa Dillon; Asa married Rebecca Neighbors, and Aquilla Greer III married Elizabeth Smith, all of Franklin County, Va. Elizabeth Bandy Greer married on 27 December 1800, Samuel Arrington. Have been unable to locate her since that 27 Dec 1800 marriage date. Plan to publish a book on my Greer Family and have much data on them in Franklin County and surrounding counties; but would like to further identify her, as she was my fourth great grand-mother. Any information welcome. Thanks
