ARMSTRONG - From the "History of Craighead County, Arkansas," I find the following passage: "Three Armstrong brothers, John Joseph, William T. E., and Nathaniel, who were born in Virginia, near Natural Bridge, in the thirties, came to this section in 1844 with their father, and settled near Greensboro." Parents of John Joseph, William T.E. and Nathaniel M. were Thomas and Catherine P. (unknown) ARMSTRONG. The birth and death dates of Thomas are not known. Catherine was born in 1797 and died in 1855. Thomas and Catherine were also the parents of three daughters: Rebecca T., Cassandra Jane (my gggrandmother), and Martha A. J. CARTER - I am looking for the Carter family which settled in Goochland in the 1700s. John Carter (1775 - 1852), the father of William R. Carter, Beverly Atwood Carter, and Mary Elizabeth Carter, moved from Goochland to Amelia county in the early 1800s. Supposedly, John's family settled in Goochland right along the James River. I don't know if the names of John's children could also be other family names that tie in somehow (the Beverly family, the Atwood family). Any information would be helpful.
