FLEET - I am interested in sharing information on the Fleet family of King & Queen Co., Va. Looking for information regarding my great-grandfather, Thomas Woodson Fleet, born about Aug 31, 1860, Mathews Co., Va. or his parents, Alexander Washington Fleet and Ann Elizabeth Marchant, both of Mathews Co. However, I believe that some or part of the family may have moved from Mathews Co. after 1860 and lived in King & Queen Co. I have copies of the 1850 and 1860 Federal Census for Mathews Co. listing the members of the family. At some point Thomas Woodson Fleet moved to Baltimore where he met and married my great-grandmother of Md. He was a tobacco merchant in Baltimore until his early death of lung cancer in 1905.

TEMPLE - In "Some Temple Pedigrees" by Levi Daniel Temple it mentions some Temple's who lived in King and Queen County, Virginia. Joseph Temple was born about 1710 in Presque Isle, Chesterfield County, VA. He married Mary, daughter of Humphrey Hill. He died in Chatham Hill, K&Q, VA. They had five sons. Their third son Humphrey Temple was born abt 1750 in K&Q, VA. Where in K&Q is Chatham Hill located? Does anyone know any information about any Temple's who lived in K&Q?

SPENCER - The SPENCER family was once numerous and very active in King & Queen county. I am seeking information on SPENCER family ancestors from King & Queen (and Middlesex) counties, VA, especially annecdotes or stories not normally found in census or library references. Married ANN WILDS, widow of Thomas. WILLIAM had a son JOHN COLLINS who had at least four children. This JOHN COLLINS m. either a daughter of AMY WYATT (Will 1666), or a daughter of ABRAHAM WEEKS; Children: JOHN COLLINS (had a son EDMUND); JOSEPH COLLINS m. CATHERINE ROBINSON/ROBERTSON, daughter of JOHN ROBERTSON; JOSEPH d. May 3, 1748 in King and Queen leaving a Will; WILLIAM COLLINS; THOMAS COLLINS (of King and Queen), and there is mention of a GEORGE COLLINS. PHELPS - I am researching a part of my family: PHELPS. My gggggrandfather Arthur PHELPS. He was born in VA around 1800. He married in GA to Lucinda Evans of Pulaski Co., GA. He later moved to LA where he died in 1874. My search is with his ancestors in VA. Although, I've searched different counties, King and Queen has a concentration of PHELPS. Thomas and Charles as two. Is there any hook-up in the PHELPS families of K&Q with Arthur? He had brothers: Elijah, Henry, Shepherd, Needham, and William. Can someone help? Nora
SMITHER - Information on Leonard and Fannie Smither, On the 1860 Mathews Co. census Fannie is listed with her children from King and Queen Co. Her last listing is 1880 at 70 yrs. of age. She is not burried in the H.C. Smither Cemetary with her family in Mathews Co. Possibly she was sent back to King and Queen Co. to be burried with her husband and or her parents? I could not find any records confirming her death or place of burrial in K.&Q. Courthouse records. Leonard's parents could possibly be William and Polly.

Mary Eleanor (Nella) Smith 26 May 1808 in K&Q. They had 10 children. Children ultimately migrated to Mississippi and Texas. CARLTON - I am looking for information concerning CHRISTOPER CARLTON (CHARLETON, CARLETON) in King & Queen and Rappahannock County in 1663. Can anyone provide a positive connection between this headright and ANN (possibily his wife), CHRISTOPHER, THOMAS AND JOHN (possibily his sons) to the CARLTON line in Halifax Virginia. The Quit Rent records of 1704 depict for individual CARLTONS. Does anyone know where these CARLTONS came from? Did Christopher Carleton marry ANN SAMPSON in 1673? Is this the same ANN as listed in the Quit Rent records in 1704?

HEMINGWAY - I am doing work on the Hemingway family that lived in K&Q County (with contacts across the river at Tappahannock during the late 1700s and first half of the 1800s. My direct ancestor was one John Hemingway, a planter in 1760s. John had several sons and daughters, His son John stayed to work the farm. Second son Daniel was abrick mason in K@Q, Spots, where he married, and in KY. John senior was a trustee of the Methodist conference for land in Tappahannock about 1812. Information is sought from Methodist and Anglican church records, as civil record were burned. I'd be happy to share the tree with anyone interested, and would greatly appreciate help finding out more about John Hemingway and where he came from.

Said to have inherited estate " Orange Grove". (many sources link these 2 families, prior to the intermarriage of these families with the dau. of Dr. Thomas Walker.)
HOLCOMB - Searching for my gr.-grandfather, Sparrell H. Holcomb, may have been born King and Queen County to one Wm. Holcomb a landowner of about 700 acres , Wm.'s spouse is unknown to us....13 children were born to Wm and spouse..10 boys and 3 gorls...at time of Civil War each son wnt to fight for the side they believed in..after war each came home only yot find there wasn't a home left for them....they then went their separate ways...my gr-grandfather was Sparrell H. Holcomb(e) moved west to the Oklahoma Territory, along the way he met and married one Fannie Easter (we don't know if Easter is maiden name or middle name), Sparrell died around 1928/29 not sure of year in Chickasha,Oklahoma and is buried there beside my gr-grannndmother Fannie....any information you can give me will be helpful..what i have written here is what has been told to us by our parents..we would like to eventually find the children of the brothers and sisters of Sparrell...can you help me?
