This deed made this first day of January 1871 between Benjamin F. Gresham and Mary Alice his wife of the first part, and C. H. and Calvin D. Martin of the second part witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to them in hand paid or secured to be paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth grant and sell to the said C. H. and Calvin D. Martin a certain lot of land known as the old storehouse and lot in the village of Newtown, County of King and Queen, containing one fourth of an acre more or less and bounded as follows viz: on the south and west by the lands of Mrs. Amanda N. Lumpkin and on the North and East by the Main roads, the above lot being a portion of the property conveyed by the parties of the first part to Oscar Gresham a trustee for the benefit of S. S. and J. N. Gresham, by deed dated the first day of December 1865 and released by said parties to the said parties of the first part of this deed, by deed dated the 13th day of January 1870 for the purposes therein specified.
And the aforesaid grantors for themselves and their heirs do guarantee the said said lot of land to the said C. H. and Calvin D. Martin against any claims of theirs or their heirs and against the claims of any person or persons whatsoever.

I, J. Lovenstein, a justice of the peace for the aforesaid in the state of Virginia, do certify that B. F. Gresham whose name is signed to the within writing, bearing the date the 1st day of Jan, 1871, acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid, this 23rd day of June, 1871.
