Frances Hague was one of the co-founders of Waterford (the other being his brother- in-law Amos Janney) and what I found interesting was that though Waterford (then called Janney's Mill) began in the 1730s, it wasn't until the death of Francis in 1780 that the land started being divided and the town could grow--the two men pretty much owned all the village land up until that time. I have his inventory if you wish but I didn't think the text, as typed in table form, would translate to email very well. - Bronwen Souders

Be it Remembered this twenty-fourth day of the eighth month called August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty, I, Francis Hague of Loudoun County in Virginia being weak of body but of sound disposing, mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory Life, do make this my last Will and Testament, touching the disposal of what temporal Estate I have; hereby revoking and disannulling all former Wills by me made and this only to be taken for my last Will and Testament and none other Imprimis. I will that my Body be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and that all my just debts be fully paid and satisfied

Secondly. I give and divise unto the Trustees of Fairfax Meeting House Land and to their Successors for ever and for the use and convenience of said Meeting, so much of my Land joining to said Land as is contained from a forked black Oak standing near the northwest corner of the Stable Westwards from the Meeting House marked M running from thence nearly a northeast course passing by the Northwest Corner of the Stable on the East end of the House to a black oak marked M thence to a white Oak also marked M then a short distance same course to a line of said Meeting House Land, then with that line to the beginning

Thirdly, my will is and I hereby direct that all the residue of my Land be sold by my executors at publick Auction, immediately after my Decease, and that they or the Survivors of them do send and sufficiently convey the same to the purchaser or purchasers in parcels or the whole together as may appear most advantageous and that no unnecessary delay be made in the payment of my debts and Legacies hereafter mentioned. I also Will that all my personal Estate (save only such Articles as are otherwise bequeathed) be also sold in like manner, and that the whole amounts of the sales both real and personal be judiciously disposed of as is herein directed

Fourthly. I give and bequeath unto my Children the several sums mentioned with their names Viz To my Son Isaac the sum of Sixty....pounds [four dots, as shown, sic], and to my son Thomas Ninety...pounds and to my son Samuel one hundred and fifty pounds and to my daughters Ann, Mary, Rebeckah and Sarah, fifty pounds to each of them and to my daughter Hannah seventy five pounds and to my granddaughter Jane Janney twenty-five pounds current money of Virginia, to be paid to them or their legal representatives in Gold or Silver by weights or paper currency at the current exchange at the time of payment.

Fifthly. I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Hannah my best feather Bed of furniture, one Case of Drawers, one large Iron Pott, one Pine Chest, and one brindle Cow Sixthly. my further Will is that the remainder of the monies arising from the sale of my said Estate as also my Cash and outstanding debts (after the payment of my debts and legacies before mentioned) be equally divided and paid to my Children, namely Isaac, Thomas, Samuel, Ann, Mary, Rebeckah, Hannah and Sarah or to their Heirs, or Representatives in manner above directed Seventhly and lastly. I nominate and appoint my Sons Thomas Hague, Samuel Hague and Israel Thompson Executors to this my last Will and Testament
