About Us -

The Massanutton Chapter was chartered in February 1897 with Mrs. John Paul as Regent. The origin of the name is Algonquin, partially the Shawnee Tribe. It means "Great Lookout Mountain."

Among our distinguished members was a real daughter Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Glenn Stewart. Mrs. Stewart was an active member and an inspiration with her quick wit and keen interest in social and political affairs. She died in 1913 at the age of 88.

Massanutton Chapter was foremost in all war charities during the Spanish American War, World War One, and the Second World War. Aid was also sent to the British War Fund. The chapter has supported many civic and philanthropic organizations through the years.

Chapter records afford a rare privilege to have an insight in to the efforts made toward establishing and perpetuating the Massanutton Chapter NSDAR. Our members of today continue to strive to carry on the dedication of our faithful members who went before us and paved the way.
