They had several children; their daughter, Dasie was born in Nelson Co., 1876 (our grandmother). George H. was born about 1834 and served in the Civil War. Vestemian is listed on our grandmother's birth certificate as Vestemian Burton and may have been of another Burton family. She was born about 1845. CAMPBELL, SNEAD -

My great great grandparents were Alexander and Amanda Snead. I found in the 1880 census that they lived in the Massie Mill district of Nelson County. He was 25, and she was 22 at the time. They had one daughter, Cammie W. Snead, 6 months old.
They were also the parents of my great grandmother, Maude Estell Snead who later became the second wife of Fielding Jefferson Campbell. She was born about 1882. Does anyone know if they had other children, when they died and where they are buried?

SPROUSE -

I have information that my greatgrandparents, Marshall Theodore Sprouse and Willanna Frances Carr Sprouse, were living in Massies Mill from 1900 to 1928. Here's what I know:
(1) Marshall Theodore Sprouse was born 12 Aug 1861 (possibly in Pennsylvania).
(2) Willanna was the daughter of Uriah Jackson Carr.
(3) both Marshall and Willanna died on July 21, 1928.
(4) near neighbor's surnames were Hite, Cash, Fitzgerald, Painter, Carr, Steele, Layton and Ramsey.
(5) Marshall and Willanna's children were, Ella and Etta (twins), Cora, William, James (my grandfather) Lula, and Dolly.

My questions are:
(1) who was James Marshall Sprouse's father and mother?
(2) Was there really a house fire that killed both Marshall and Willanna?
(3) Who were the parents of Marshall Theodore Sprouse? Were they William H., b. 1820 and Sarrah E. Sprouse, b. 1828?
They are both buried at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Montebello. I would like to find out what happened to them. Anyone with information regarding them is welcome to contact me by email. My sincere thanks.

HARRIS -

Searching for the parents of my great, great grandfather Albert Wagstaff Harris. He was born 1818 in Nelson Co. married Mary Elizabeth Woolfolk 9 Nov 1840 in Woodford Co. Ky. I believe a brother of Albert, Clough Harris married her sister Martha Woolfolk. In the 1850 Census of Nelson Co., Albert is listed with his children living next to Clough. Albert's wife died soon after the birth of twin girls, Mary and Susan Anne in Nov. 1849. I believe he is somehow related to William Harris who married Elizabeth Wagstaff, but through which child? Any help would be appreciated.

MORRIS -

In 1975, an article appeared in The Roanoke Times about a woman named Dora Morris. I was thrilled to find the clipping in my mother's belongings and have become very interested in learning more about her life in Lovingston. At that time she was 88 years old and had existed very primitively, and I might add, contently, on the land and the kindness of neighbors. Does anyone have access to any additional information on her - books, articles and the like? I gratefully appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to provide.

CASH, RAMSEY -

Looking for more information on Wesley Cash who married Elizabeth Ramsey on 1 Feb 1860 in Nelson County, VA. Some sources say that he was the son of Jesse Cash and Cynthia Mays, but Wesley's marriage record says he was born in Rockbridge County 'to Francis Cash' and that his father gave consent in person. I cannot find Wesley and Elizabeth in Nelson County in 1860, even though I searched the whole County, nor can I find them in Rockbridge Co., and I searched it also. I would like to confirm the names and dates of birth of their children, also. Any help on this family would be appreciated.
