Newbern, Va.
Nov. 7th 1878

I certify that I have carefully examined A. C. Runyon of Co. E. 24th Va. Infantry, and find him the victim of a flesh wound received in action at Drury's Bluff May 16th 1863. The ball entered the right thigh about three inches above the knee, passing through the inner hamstring muscles, and finding exit at the inner edge of the rectus femur is (the outter front of the thigh). The muscles have sustained no permanent injury, though he suffers from rheumatism in consequence of the wound.
J. B. Jordan Med. Examiner

J B. Jordan personally appeared before me in my office and made oath that the set forth in the foregoing certificate is true.
