I David CLOYD of Pulaski County being as hereby make this my last will and testament in the following manner that is to say,
First, Having heretofore given to my son in law Gordon C. KENT all the property I assign to give him. I give and bequeath my Grandson David C. KENT three thousand dollars.
Secondly, I give and bequeath to my son in law David McGAVOCK the lands now in his possession and which were purchased by me of Gordon C. KENT, I also give and bequeath to him the slaves now in his possession, to him and his heirs forever.
Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren Cloyd McGAVOCK and Sarah McGAVOCK one thousand dollars each.
Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my three sons Joseph CLOYD, Gordon CLOYD and James M. CLOYD all the residence of my property real and personal, of every kind and description to be divided between them, I having however heretofore conveyed to my son Joseph the Horse Shoe tract of land, it is my intention that in the division of my property among my three sons, its value shall be considered and brought into the estimate so that they shall be made equal, to hold the same to them and their heirs forever.
I hereby constitute and appoint my son Joseph CLOYD, David McGAVOCK and David CLOYD, Jr. executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. And it is my desire that my said executors shall no be required to give security.
In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of February 1848

Virginia:
At the court held for the County of Pulaski the 6th day of April 1848 the last will and testament of David Cloyd deceased was presented in court for probate proven by John B. BASKERVILLE one of the subscribing witnesses thereto as the act and deed of the said David CLOYD dec’d and contained for further proof.
And at a court held for the said County the 6th day of May 1849 the last will and testament of David CLOYD dec’d was again presented in court for further proven by Joseph COFER a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Joseph CLOYD one of the executors therein named who made oath thereto, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form. Bond and security being dispensed of according to the request of the testator in his will. Liberty being reserved to the other executors named in the said will to join in the probate when they shall think fit.
