HARRIS posted by Curtis Harris Collier, III on Friday, January 3, 1997

I am looking for information on the parents, siblings, & ancestors of my maternal 4th greatgrandfather, JOHN D. HARRIS. It was reported that he was born (date unknown) in Orange County, Virginia & died in 1821 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. His second wife, MILLY BOLLING/BOWLING (my 4th greatgrandmother), was born in Virginia. I am not sure if they were married before or after they settled in Georgia. Many Virginians from Orange County & neigbouring counties settled in the northern part of Oglethorpe County, Georgia near Elbert County in the late 1700's-early 1800's. I am also curious to find out how the Harris's of Orange County are related to the many Harris's of neighbouring Albemarle County, for I have paternal Harris ancestors in Albemarle County. Please help me if you can. Thanks!

OGG posted by Alvin Rabe on Thursday, January 16, 1997

OGG, John Sr. and Alexander. I am researching the Orange Co. Ogg family dating back to 1752. I have a major problem in that I have been unable to determine how these two ancestors of mine are related. The choices are: not at all related, father and son, brothers. I have been told that in the original edition of "History of Madison County" it is stated that they are brothers arriving in Orange Co. from Scotland in 1752. My local library does not carry this edition. I plan to visit Madison library this spring but I was hoping that one of our web page readers may have this book and could do a search for me. I will be eternally thankful.
