BARBOUR, FREEMAN posted by Howard W. Holmes on Thursday, November 20, 1997

Thomas BARBOUR-Will dated 27 Oct 1794 states he was a resident of Orange Co VA.  This same will was filed in April 1818 in Hardin CO KY.  It is listed just above a will for Elisha FREEMAN, my ancestor. These words are typed along with Freeman's will entry: "Recorded 13 April 1828 at the request of Elisha Freeman who is yet alive." Barbour's will provided for a bequest to Elisha Freeman, so I believe it might involve land in Hardin Co Ky owned by Barbour which he was bequethed to Freeman.  My mystery is what relation was Freeman to Barbour.  The will said Elisha was the son of Thomas Freeman.  Also, the brothers of Barbour were listed s Ambrose, Thomas and James and a sister, Mary Harrison. Does anyone know this Barbour family from the 1790's in Orange Co?

GOODALL, PARKS posted by Dottie Goodall Gibson on Sunday, November 23, 1997

I am having difficulty determining the father of my 2nd great-grandfather, Charles Parks GOODALL, who migrated from Orange County VA to Lawrence County OH in 1842. He apparently is from the line of Richard GOODALL in Caroline County in the1600's to Charles GOODALL m. Ann PARKS in Orange County early 1700's to John/Jonathan Goodall and various Parke, Parks Goodalls also in Orange County in the 1700's and 1800's.  But with few records and too many Johns, Parks and Charleses, I have not been able to establish the father of our Charles Parks. I have the information on my family from Charles Parks on through his son William Goodall and his son William Clyde Goodall (my grandfather) and his son Raymond Lloyd Goodall (my father). I would appreciate very much any help I could get.

DAVIES, FRY posted by Frances Carner on Friday, November 28, 1997

I have documents from family Bibles and papers stating Frances Walker (Davies) Fry gave birth to her son, William Reuben Fry, at Orange Court House, VA., 1870.  She died a month or more later at Orange Court House. Also, I have family letters from individuals mentioning Orange Court House, "I plan to see a Christmas Tree they are putting up for the children at Orange C. H....." Evidently many of my ancestors went to Locust Dale Acadamy and spent time also at Orange Court House.  They were Frances Walker Davies Fry, Robert Geddes Davies, Joseph Davies and others (the Davies name was sometimes spelled Davis).  I am unable to travel but would like more information about the Academy and Orange Court House functions during the mid 1800s, specifically 1855-1875.
