Am searching for the parents of William Hiden Shifflett b. ca 1838 who married Eliza Ann Roberts in 1860 in Greene Co., VA. Their son George Minor Shifflett married Virginia Ann Wood and lived in Rockingham Co., VA. William's marriage certificate in 1860 lists only a mother which looks like Artimpa which I am told is Artemissa. His second marriage to Lucinda Breeden lists his parents as John and Artemissa Shifflett. Can anyone out there confirm who this John is? William deeded land to his wife which listed it as part of the Jacob Shifflett land. Anyone who has information on William Hiden at all, please contact me. Thank you, Cathy

Robert ALLEN lived near Winchester, in Orange county, (present Frederck county) Virginia from about 1737. Robert and his second wife, Sarah Cathey Givens, had Benjamin ALLEN our ancestor.

Married Jane McCLANAHAN in Bourbon Co, KY in 1797. Believe one of Allen's brothers to be William JONES (b. abt 1747 in VA) who married Betsy SHANKS GILLESPIE in Bourbon Co, KY abt. 1789. Looking for parents and other siblings of Allen JONES. Believe this family might have been in the area of Orange County, VA which later became Culpeper. Any help appreciated.

Searching for info on Darby Quinn who was in Orange County around 1740/1760's. He had a daughter, Elizabeth, and a son, Richard. Elizabeth married George Bruce circa 1740. Have seen references to Darby Quinn leaving a "Great Bible" at his death; does anyone out there have any information in regards to this.

Browning b. 1745 in Orange; d. 1812 in Clark Co KY; married Susanna Hickman ca 1766 in Culpeper Co. (2) Joshua Browning b.19 Dec 1747 Orange Co??; d. Dec 1814 Bourbon Co KY; m. Nancy Anne Scott ca 1765 Isle of Wight Co. Some researchers say John was married to Elizabeth Demarest. Records indicate this is not true, most early reports were based on E.F. Browning's works which have proven to be incorrect in many areas. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
