- DAWSON, GARDNER, GIBSON posted by John V.(Van) Gardner
on Tuesday, November 2, 1999
- I have been researching my oldest known ancestor DANIEL GARDNER who came from Orange
County, VA to Kershaw Co., SC and died there in 1796. Looking through the deed book
abstracts I saw several references to property that bordered DANIEL GARDNER'S lot. One
particular deed that caught my attention was an indenture made 25 June, 1798 between
WILLIAM DAWSON and SALLY his wife and JOHN GIBSON. The description of the property
mentions MINE RUN, GARDNER's NECK CORNER and GARDNER's NECK ROAD. I have been able to find
MINE RUN on a Civil War Plat but nothing on GARDNER's NECK CORNER or ROAD. Does anyone
know if this road still exist by that name or if there are any old maps that might show
it?
