These were all taken at the Comer family cemetery in Comertown, VA. From 340
north, turn off on Grove Hill Road, then right on Crooked Run Road, or Comertown
road. From there you just have to “look” for it. There is no chapel or sign,
it’s just a small plot of land on the side of a grassy hill and only contains
around 20 marked graves. I’ve read quite a few records that stated a person was
buried in the family cemetery at Comertown, but for everyone of those I found to
actually have a marker, there were several that did not. Judging by the
condition of some of the stones, I’m sure there was something at one time that
is either long gone or in the case of one or two I’ve not send a photograph of,
are weathered to smooth stone. Additionally, some of the old stones have been
replaced by family members recently. I know the stone for Martin Luther and
Ollie May Comer is brand new replacing the original.
