On this sixth day of May A.D. 1833 personally appeared in open Court before the County Court of the County of Cooper aforesaid now sitting David Allee a resident a resident of the County of Cooper and State aforesaid, age seventy one years on the 25th day of April last, who being first sworn according to law, doth on Oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he first entered the service of the United States from the County of Henry in the State of Virginia in the capacity of a private as a volunteer militiaman in the Spring season of the year as well as he can recollect 1777 or 1778 under the command of Peter Harston [sic: Hairston] Capt. William Ferguson Lieut.; that they marched through Bottetourt [sic: Botetourt County] and Washington Counties, Virginia, having joined some other companies under the command of Colo. [Evan] Shelby and Colo. Christy [sic: William Christian] chief in command on the western side of the Alleghany Mts to French Broad now in the State of Tennessee where the companies divided and went in different directions in pursuit of the Cherokee Indians, that his company marched to the Indian Towns called Choto Chilhowee & Tuckalucky; that they returned and the whole troop met at Long Island of the Holstein [sic: Holston River at present Kingsport TN], and there remained till Christy’s Treaty with Cherokee Indians was concluded, [Treaty of Long Island, 20 July 1777], when they were disbanded, that his discharge was signed by Capt. Peter Harston and returned home after six months service as well as this Declarant can now remember. that he again entered the service in the month of July 1778 from the County of Bottetort and State of Virginia as a volunteer militiaman under the command of Col. Charles Lynch of Bedford & Thomas Cummings his Capt. That they marched against the tories and had a conflict with the tories at the head of Little River in Bottetort County [now in Floyd County] – where they took as prisoners Job Hale and William Terry two of the tory Captains, from thence to Sinking Creek in Mongomery [sic: Montgomery County, now in Giles or Craig County] Va., where they disarmed a good many Tories, from thence to Toms Creek in Withe County [sic: Wythe County, but actually in Montgomery County] Va where they disarmed more Tories – at which business they continued untill they were discharged after three months service, that his discharge was there signed by Charles Lynch Colo of Bedford – and returned home. that he lost this discharge also. That he next entered as a volunteer militiaman under the command of Capt. Joshua Martin, & Colo. Abraham Penn, that they marched to Dan River and there having learned that the British were not in Virginia as was reported, was discharged – this took place directly after the Battle at Guilford Court House [15 March 1781] – This declarant does not recollect the precise length of time of this last tour but does recollect that his discharge was for three months service. this discharge was signed by Capt. Joshua Martin which is also destroyed having taken no pains to preserve them as the Militia seemed to be little noticed by the general Government. That he again volunteered in the year 1779 as well as he remembers as a militiaman from the same place under the command of Capt. [Mathew] Arbuckle Capt of a Company of Rangers – that they ranged the country from a place called Dan River Bottom on New River down to a point pleasant at the junction of New River [Kanawha River] & the Ohio R. where they were discharged and returned home after six months service. his discharge was signed by Capt Arbuckle and gone the way of the others. That he again entered the service from the same place in the year 1780 or 1779 and marched to point Pleasant under the command of Capt. Arbuckle and Colo. [Joseph] Cloyd. that they were stationed at Point Pleasant to guard the frontiers that he was a volunteer militiaman, where he remained six months and was discharged and return home his discharge was signed by Colo. Cloyd, which is also lost. This declarant states that as well as he can now recollect he was in service during the revolutionary war at least two years as a volunteer militia man as aforesaid for which service he claims a Pension. That he has no documentary evidence and that he knows no person, whose testimony he can procure, who can testify to his services.
He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a Pension or annuity except the present, and declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of the Agency of any state.

An. I was born in Pittsylvania County Virginia in the year 1762.
Ques 2nd. Have you any record of your age & if so where is it?
An. I had one but lost not long since
Ques 3. where were you living when called into service where have you lived since the revolutionary war & where do you now live?
An. when I first entered the service I lived in Henry County Virginia, all the other times I lived in Bottetort County Virginia & since war lived in Virginia, Kentucky, & Missouri & now live in the State of Missouri & County of Cooper.
Que 4. How were you called into service?
An. I was volunteered
Qu 5th state the names of some of the regular officers, who were with the Troop when you served, such continental and militia Regiments as you can recollect and the general circumstances of your service
An. The statement is as well made in the declaration as I am able to make it (Read it)
Qu 6th. Did you ever receive a discharge and if so by whom was it signed
An. I received five the signers of which I have told in my declaration.
Qu 7. State the names of the persons to whom you are known in your present neighborhood who can testify as to your character for veracity and their belief of your services as a Soldier of the revolution.
An. I can state David Jones John Lougan James W. Marcy & many others.
