moved to Franklin County on the northern border of Patrick. All three of these men married daughters of William and Mary Moore Price. These marriages are as follows:

Charles Lewis married Joyce Price in Halifax, Virginia on February 20, 1783
Edward Lewis married Nancy Moore Price in Halifax, Virginia on December 27, 1785
James Lewis married Sally Price in Patrick, Virginia on May 23, 1793

Charles had a daughter named Elizabeth Lewis, born in 1795, who married Levi Johnson in Patrick County on March 6, 1813.  He is named in Charles Lewis’s will along with two other sons in law, his sons and unmarried daughters in 1832.

It is possible the both Edward and James had daughters that they named Elizabeth.

Edward is the father of Elizabeth Lewis who married George Bowman in Patrick County on April 18, 1827.  In the 1850 Census her age is given as 45 making the year of birth 1805. She is the right age for the female living with Edward in the 1820 census.

James could be the father of Elizabeth Lewis who married William Moles in Patrick County on January 21, 1831.  The 1850 census of Stokes County, North Carolina gives her age as 37 making the year of birth 1813. Since James married 10 years after Charles and 8 years after Edward his family would have been younger. She certainly wouldn’t be the daughter of Edward because she was born two late for the female listed in the 1820 census. James was living in 1815 because he was the administrator of Zachariah Lewis’
Estate.

James was in Franklin County by 1786 and seems to have spent most of his time there from what limited records available. One record of interest is a deed in Franklin between John Johnson and John Roberts executed in 1787 to which James Lewis was a witness. In 1820 James’ brother Charles was the administrator along with Nancy Johnson for John Johnson’s will. Both Charles and James were involved with the Johnson family.
