Service to Our Society Our members contribute genealogical research materials and personal support to our National Organization’s Library and to libraries around the State of Virginia. Currently, three of our members serve the Virginia State Society as an Officer or Committee Chairman: · Mary Leigh Boisseau is First Vice Regent of the Virginia State Society, · Susan Amann is Chairman of National Awards, and · Carole Featherston is Chairman of Public Relations and Yearbook. Education Our Chapter encourages and supports students. We award JROTC Medals to outstanding students at four area high schools: Atlee High School, Air Force JROTC, Mechanicsville, VA; Highland Springs High School, Marine Corp JROTC, Highland Springs, VA; Lee-Davis High School, NJROTC, Mechanicsville, VA; and Varina High School, NJROTC, Richmond, VA.

WelcomeWelcome to the Pocahontas Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists. Our Chapter, established in 1922, is committed to furthering the patriotic, historical, and educational objectives of our National Society.
Meetings Our Chapter meets four times a year on the second Thursday of the month in Henrico County. Meetings, which begin at 11:30 a.m., consist of opening patriotic exercises, chapter business, a catered luncheon, and an interesting program on a historic or patriotic subject. Our next meeting dates are: · January 14, 2010 “Humor of History” and Annual Meeting , and · May 13, 2010 “Autism, What and How.” To read about recent Chapter Programs, click here.
Service to Our Military Chapter members contribute time and resources in support of our veterans and active duty military personnel. To date in 2009, we have collected and shipped over $74,000 of manufacturers’ coupons to overseas U.S. military bases. We also collect and contribute books and supplies and make lap robes and aprons for Veterans Centers here in the U.S. Our member, Mary Mayo Stenger, pictured at left, has sewn over 1,000,000 stitches for our Veterans! We congratulate Veterans Chairman Mary Leigh Boisseau who recently received a Combat Area Presentation Flag from Marine Expeditionary Security Force Unit 562 which was recalled to active duty in September 2008 in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Chairman Boisseau received the flag, which had flown over the Unit’s Patrol Boat in the North Arabian Gulf, in gratitude for her support of the unit members. |
