ABERNETHY/ABERNATHY - I am attempting to establish complete linage between myself and Robert Abernethy. Can anyone in Prince George County add to the following? I found this on the Lincoln County, NCGenWeb site. Robert A ABERNETHY was born in 1624 in Scotland. He died in Jan 1685 in James River, Prince George Co, Va. Robert was one of 1610 prisoners of war shipped to America by the year 1652, and arrived in Jamestown, Va where he served 4 years as an indentured servant. He appears to have been on the losing Scots side against Oliver Cromwell's English Roundheads in either the battle of Dunbar on Sept 3, 1650 or the battle of Worcester on Sept 3, 1651. The losing Scots were lead by Lord David Leslie. The final battle took place at Worcester, England by the river Severn, and resulted in 3000 dead Scots and up to 10,000 prisoners. Some information on Robert came from these sources: "The Robert Abernethy Family" by Arvord M. Abernethy "Abernethy Family in Scotland, Virginia and Alabama" by Thomas Perkins Abernethy Parents: George Abernethy DE BARRIE. He was married to Sara Cabbigo (CUBISHA) in 1657 in Bristol Parish, VA. Children were: Robert A ABERNETHY .

SIMPSON - In a 1733 land patent, my ancestor John Simpson acquired land in Spotsylvania County that he later conveyed to some of his children. The patent refers to him as "John Simpson of Prince George County," but we have reason to believe that he was actually the same John Simpson who was living in *King* George County at the time. Therefore, I would like to determine the likelihood of the word "Prince" in this patent being a clerk's error (yes, I have seen a facsimile of the original patent, not just a transcription or abstract). To anyone who has researched in Prince George County, or who owns a Prince George County resource: Was there a SIMPSON family in Prince George County around 1720-1740? Thank you very much. Scott Simpson

SMITH, TARVER, DENTON, BAKER, MAHOLLAND, HARRISON - Trying to find many Pr. Geo. ancestors. Was the son of RICHARD SMITH who made his will February 7, 1723, recorded May 10, 1726, and wife, JUDITH, named EDWARD, to whom RICHARD left "my plantation I live on" the same EDWARD SMITH who made his own will in Brunswick Co., VA, May 27, 1772 and recorded April 27, 1772? This EDWARD (d. 1772) married twice; by first wife, name not known, he had two children, MARY MOORE, and RICHARD SMITH. By his second wife, TABITHA, still living in 1772, he had two sons: BENJAMIN and EDWARD SMITH, and six daughters: ELIZABETH, SARAH, REBECCA, LUCY, TABITHA, and HANNAH. Of these ELIZABETH married (1) THOMAS DENTON, and (2) JAMES BAKER; LUCY married JOHN MAHOLLAND in Greensville Co., VA; and HANNAH married BENJAMIN TARVER. This latter couple are my ancestors. Of the other three daughters, one of them married a HARRISON. These couples and/or families all ended up in Wilson Co., TN, by the early 1800s. I will be happy to share information.

HAYNES, EATON, THOMPSON, PARRISH - Is there anyone in Prince George County who can do a lookup for me? Can you please find the will of Anthony HAYNES circa 1753? VA, and my Herbert(2) HAYNES, d. 1847, Benton Co. TN. Anthony had a son Herbert(1), d. 26 Aug 1793, Warren Co. NC. who is the right age to be my Herbert(2)'s father.
