THE CAMP FAMILY

 
Paul Douglas Camp was born in Southampton County October 25, 1849.  Son of Sallie Cutchins Camp b 1813 and George Camp, Jr. b 1793.  He was the son of George Camp who married Hannah Wright of Nansemond County.  His father was Thomas Camp who was born in Gloucester County and after the Revolution moved into Southhampton County.  This Thomas Camp had Revolutionary Service and many manuscripts in the Virginia State Archives describe thisservice.  Thomas' brother John was a Captain in the Revolution. Thomas camp was the son of William Camp who had a grant in the Isle of Wight County, while he still lived in Gloucester County.  This land was sold by the son, Thomas Camp, in 1765.  William Camp owned other property in Isle of Wight and Gloucester.

The earliest known ancestor is the emigrant who came into Gloucester, County, Virginia some time between 1635 and 1640.  He was Thomas Campof Noznig, County Essex, England.

            (Capt.) Francis Clements, who died ca 1733; married 1st  Elizabeth Meriwether, daughter of Nicholas Meriwether; married 2d Lydia Bleighton who married 2d Richard Ogilby.  Lydia died around 1739 and has issue:
