Gayle, I'm attaching a copy of a certified record of the marriage bond
of James M. Sutherland and Martha Willis, dated 18 February 1830,
which appears in the Marriage Bond Book (1767-1862). Due to the
condition of this very old letter to me, I can't tell for sure, but think it
says on page 97. It is in the Pittsylvania County records, and the clerk
wrote that the marriage bond was no longer in existence but was
found in their book. In another email I'm attaching a copy of the
original marriage bond of John Wier and Sally Burton from the
Pittsylvania County marriage records dated 26 March 1778. Charles
Burton consented to his daughter's marriage.
