DEED
R. A. Lee to Ella Scruggs
6 April 1911
 

THIS DEED made this the 6th day of April A.D. 1911, between R. A.
Lee, Sr., and his wife, M. K. Lee of the first part and Ella V.
Scruggs of the second part, both and all of the County of
Pittsylvania and State of Virginia.

WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of the sum of One
Hundred and Fifty Dollars, paid by the said Ella V. Scruggs and
hereby acknowledged, we do bargain, sell and convey to the said
Ella V. Scruggs, a parcel or lot of land in the aforesaid County
and State adjoining the lands of W. L. Vaughan and others
containing fifty acres, by the same more or less, beginning at
the line of H. C. Parker at the Junction of rail and post fence
and running with said fence by the old tobacco barns to the
pasture fence, then by chops and blaze to the corner of fence
near this spring hill gate and continuing with said fence
to the Vaughan line at the Blackrock bluff, then east to Taylor's
Ford Road, then southerly with said road to Parker's line, then
westly to the beginning.  Reservation that we the parties of the
first part, occupy and hold the mansion house, garden, pasture
and firewood and spring during their natural life and at their
death then the said Ella V. Scruggs to own the land in her own
right.

Given under our hands and seals this the day and year first above
written.

County of Pittsylvania to wit:

Personally appeared before me W. H. Ramsey, a Justice of the
Peace in and for the aforesaid County and State, whose names are
signed to the above Deed having even date with this certificate,
R. A. Lee and M. K. Lee, wife of R. A. Lee and acknowledged the
same to be theirs.

Given under my hand this the 6th day of April 1911.

In the Clerk's Office of Pittsylvania Circuit Court at the
Courthouse thereof on the 19th day of April 1911 at 9 o'clock
A.M., the foregoing writing upon its Certificate of
Acknowledgement was admitted to record.
