Are you connected with the James
Austin who went to TN, and was in at least Davidson Co. Tn, sometime
about 1800. Perhaps a year or so later.  He married a daughter of George
Keeling in VA before he migrated. I understand that he married her eithr
1798 or 99 being about a year before his father in law migrated to TN. I
have notes on an interesting litigation this James Austin had against
George in Tn.  This James must have been a salt of the earth kind of
guy. He got stuck with keeping all of George's slaves, old George,
several of his kids and then when James' sister in law died (another of
George's daughters) he got stuck with keeping the kids from that family
too.

If you have any idea this James may have fit into your family lines, I
would like to know more about your family. Since I know nothing about
this George before he left VA other than he married Mary Ann Avery who I
suspect was the daughter of an Edward/Edmund Avery.  Information about
your family may give me some clues which would help me track George in
Va.

Thank you for any help. Anything I can share with you would be my
pleasure to do so.  There are some Austins in the the Bedford Co. Tn
books which I have.

My grandfather of Autauga Co., AL wrote that his father, Stokley F.
King, was born in Danville, Va on Jan. 23, l812 (Here he makes a
correction in his typing which makes the year questionable--and later
cencus records vary as to what his age was in different years!)  Stokley
according to this paper died in Dallas Co., Al July 7, 1887--again a
strikeover making the year not too clear---after all he wrote this on a
typewriter in 1916 before modern types of correction were available.
Stokley apparently is in Pittsylvania Co 1840 census. I have information

We think he has at least 2 sons born in the 1780s, Wm. & James.  There

        Bob Bolin <bobbolin@COMMUNIQUE.NET>

My name is Bob Bolin and I am fairly new at ancestor research.  On a recent trip to North Louisiana, I found the gravesite of my great-great grandmother.

There were two tombstones.  The oldest, placed at time of death, showed her name as Sarah Christopher Hutchings.  The newer one, probably place in the '30s showed her name as Sarah Christopher Hutchins.

The older stone gives her date of birth as 10/01/1820 and her date of death as 8/10/1888 and says she was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

She married Elhannon H. Langford who was born on 3/27/1820 and died in 1902.  He became a doctor.  I do not know where he was born or any other information about him.

They had at least 3 male children.  As far as I can tell, they lived in Gibsland, Louisiana (about an hour south of Shreveport) for their entire married life.

They and their sons are buried in the Gibsland Cemetery.

Maybe this information is helpful.  If you run across any related information I would appreciate your sharing it with me.    Thank you

DAVID and Mary (CRENSHAW) NANCEresided in the Cascade Creek area of

Pittsylvania Co in late 1779 or early 1780. On  Jan. 22 1780, Robert
BULLINGTON was brought by Sheriff Peter PERKINS before "Gent. Justices"
Abraham SHELTON, Reubin PAYNE, William SHORT and Joseph MORTON, on charges
of "having feloniously Stabed & killed one David NANCE" and, after
hearing, he was ordered to stand trial. Was this the same ROBERT
BULLINGTON who had married Elizabeth CRENSHAW, the sister of David NANCE'S
wife Mary CRENSHAW? A number of Pittsylvania Co records, suggest that
Robert BULLINGTON must have been acquitted of the charge of murdering
David NANCE. Soon after the death of DAVID NANCE, his widow, Mary

Thanks for any help you can give.   Also I am working on JOSEPH TERRY and
