Princess Anne County,VAGenWeb  

Became extinct in 1963 - In 1691, Lynnhaven Parish was carved out of Norfolk County, Virginia, and called Princess Anne County, named for Queen Ann and then Princess Anne. The first Settlers landed at Cape Henry April 26 1607. Some of the villages were, Kempsville, London Bridge, Newtown, Princess Anne Courthouse, Pungo, Nimmo, and the beach resort Virginia Beach.

Princess Anne County merged with the City of Virginia Beach on January 1, 1963.
