BLANTON, WISEMAN, GUINN  GWYNN - My 2nd Great Grandfather, Thomas Benton BLANTON, was reportedly born in Prince Edward County around 1801 to John & Elizabeth (WISEMAN) BLANTON. John & Elizabeth were married in Monroe County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1798. They soon traveled into Kentucky with Elizabeth's brothers Abner and Jacob WISEMAN around 1818. Abner married John's sister Isabella in 1800. They moved from the area of current day Union, WV (near the old Rehobeth Church). Abner & Isabella and Jacob helped found the community of Wisemantown west of Irving, KY just across the Kentucky River. John & Elizabeth (and their growing family) moved on having a daughter, Emily, born near Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, KY. They apparently followed the Wilderness Trail from Madison through Lincoln into Mercer County. There, Thomas Benton BLANTON married his cousin Lucy BLANTON in 1826. Thomas & Lucy moved on into Owen County, Indiana. Anyone with information on Thomas Benton BLANTON or his parents would be greatly appreciated. BTW, John's parents appear to be William and Christianna (GUINN or GWYNN) BLANTON. We are working a theory that William may have been married prior to her. Any information on this would be helpful also.

NASH - I am looking for a link between William D. NASH (m. Mary Frances GAULDING in 1812) and John NASH (politician and huge land owner), both of Prince Edward. I think the two families are related, probably back in England. William D. was the son of Thomas NASH & Sarah COLE of Charlotte Co. Two of his brothers (Abner & Presley) also married into the GAULDING family and lived in Prince Edward Co. John Nash was the son of Abner Nash of Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales and d.1776. There is also substantial intermarrying of John's descendants and the READ family. William D. was close in age with most of John's children and I have proof he & the READs that John's children married all knew each other. I just can't find the family link. My thoughts are that John Nash may have been an uncle or some such relative of Thomas Nash of Charlotte Co. Any clues would be appreciated.

MARKHAM  MARCUM - MARKHAM, THOMAS died in Prince Edward County in the late 1780s. Any information on this man would be greatly appreciated. I have only a mercantile bill which indicates he had a son, Thomas Markham of Bedford who settled his estate in the early 1790s. Have been unable to find information of his existance in Prince Edward County in the late 1780s at all. Information such as neighbors, someone who may have lived with him, information that I may have missed on any tax lists...whatever... would be greatly appreciated.

STUBBLEFIELD  WIMBISH  CHALLIS  WADDILL  CARTER - I am a descendent of JAMES WIMBISH (1700-1761) of Prince Edward County, Virginia, through his daughter MARTHA WIMBISH CHALLIS (1734?-1804) and HUGH CHALLIS (?-?), who emigrated to Rockingham County, NC. I am also descended from THEODORICK CARTER (1697-1777) and ANNE WADDILL (?-?) and from ROBERT STUBBLEFIELD (1702-1775) and ANN Parker(?). ROBERT STUBBLEFIELD also emigrated to Rockingham County, NC. I do have a reasonable amount of documentation from published sources and photocopies of other documents on several of these ancestors. I am interested in locating others who are researching the WIMBISH, CHALLIS, STUBBLEFIELD, WADDILL and CARTER families in Prince Edward County in the 18th century. I am particularly interested in the genealogical and economic relationships between these families and their relatives engaged in the tobacco industry in Orange/Spotsylvania, VA, Rockingham/Guilford/Caswell, NC-Pittsylvania/Henry, VA and Wilkes/Oglethorpe County, GA.
