Roanoke Times John Ralph Allison, age 77 of Rt. 1, Draper, died Sunday morning, August 9, 1992, in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born in Pulaski County (Delton) January 4, 1915, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton Allison and Joanna Farris Allison. He was a member of the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church. He taught school for about thirty-five years in Pulaski County, and was a cattle and sheep farmer. He was a past member of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors. He was a graduate of VPI, was a member of the Draper Ruritan Club, and was a member of Gideon's International. He served with the U.S. Army for four years during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Kling Ruby Allison; four daughters, Mrs. Samuel B. (Martha) Allison Shumate, Kingstree, S.C.; Mrs. Edward M. (Jane) Allison Compton, Richmond; Mrs. H. Walter (Emily) Allison Dobyns, Dublin; Mrs. Steven M. (Sarah) Allison Goad, Richmond; one son, Paul Ralph Allison, Wytheville; twelve grandchildren; and two sisters, Miss Clara Louise Allison, Miss Martha Wade Allison, both of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Holbert Allison, Robley Curtis Allison, George Ben Johnson Allison; and two sisters, Mrs. James W. (Ella Lee) Boyd, Mrs. Charles W. (Virginia) Mottesheard. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Preston O. Sartelle, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Allison Cemetery, Draper. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday in the fellowship hall of the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church or to Gideons International. Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
