DUBLIN — Glee M. “Smokie” Carter, 89, of Barsus Rd., Dublin, VA., 
passed away Friday March 18, 2005 at Pulaski Health & Rehab Center, 
Pulaski, VA. Born December 27, 1915 at Sevierville, TN., he was the 
son of the late Samuel H. and Miranda McMahan Carter. Mr. Carter 
was a retired Construction Superintendent for Walsh Construction. 
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Page Carter. 
Survivors include three sons, Robert S. Carter and wife Doris of 
LasVegas, NV., Roy L. Carter and wife Joan of Dublin, VA., Dan 
M. Carter and wife Pat of Winchester, VA., three daughters, Elizabeth 
Hamblin and husband Junior, Barbara Melvin and Phyllis Bessler all of 
Dublin, VA., one brother, Wayne Carter of Tennessee, one sister Irene 
Ensler of Mercer, PA., thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren, 
and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 22, 2005 at the Grace 
Baptist Church in Dublin, VA., with Rev. Robert Martin and Pastor Murray 
Agee officiating. Burial will follow at the Carter Family Cemetery, Barsus Rd., 
Dublin, VA. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday March 21, 
2005 at the church.
