SAYERS, Garland Lee By NRVToday Sunday, October 30, 2005 Garland Lee Sayers, 79, of Draper, passed from this life on Saturday, October 29, 2005. He was a retired farmer and he worked for the Kroger Company for 41 years. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of the Pythagoras Lodge, Pulaski. He was born in Draper on September 13, 1926 and was the son of the late Charles Benton and Georgia Huddle Sayers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Meredith Sayers, a son, Jerry Wayne Sayers, a grandson Scott Altizer, sister Evelyn Sayers Faulkner and by brothers, Charles Bo Sayers, Jr. and William Phillip Sayers. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U. S. Army/Air Force. Surviving are a stepson and wife, Roger and Nancy Altizer, Pulaski; stepdaughters and husbands, Jean and Mel Anderson, Dublin, Barbara and Bruce Hayes, Richmond; brothers and wives, H. Daniel and Iris Sayers, Radford, Edwin and Mickey Sayers, Newbern, John and Catherine Sayers, Staunton; sister-in-law, Allene Sayers, Roanoke; two granddaughters, two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law Martha Biggar, Draper. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Huddle Cemetery, Draper. Visiting will be Tuesday afternoon from the church where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hours.
