- I am beginnig to try and research my family roots, My grandfather
was John Henry PURDY born about 1892 in Parrot Va, Pulaski Co.
My grandmother Lillian Margaret BREEDEN born 1898 same My grand
fathers had brothers named Percy PURDY, Ellac PURDY and sisters
Macey Married Cal MOORE sister, Kathleen married Cecil HAMILTON.
sister Mary/ married a REED, may have been other sibblings but
do not knnow there names. My grandfathers mother was a SURFACE,
not sure of spelling. Anyone researching this family and that
has information to share I would be very greatful.You can contact

- I would love to trade info. with persons researching the
ALLEY surname. I have info. as far back as David ALLEY (1791-1871)
who married Sarah HAMMONDS (1797-1885). Their children were Sarah,
John, Crockett, Asa, Elizabeth, Mary, Leonard, Nancy J., Hezekiah,
and Jane M.. My specific line is Everett ALLEY, Sr, son of Charles
Whittington ALLEY, son of Leonard ALLEY. Many of David and Sarah's
descendants resided in the Pulaski/Wythe/Carroll County area.

- Laura Mae HYLTON wrote in her book, "An orphan as a
missionary", published 1952 "We visited Mr. and Mrs.
SPENCE. My brother Guy was still with the, and I was very glad
to see him again, ... before we went farther. We visited next
in the home of my aunt, Mrs. Nancy MITCHELL." I would Like
information on Nancy MITCHELL. Also I would like to know the
burial site of my grandparents George W. HYLTON and Lucy Cox
HYLTON. Aunt Laura continues in her book.."I had my harp
and song book with me, and sowe sang some that night. Telephones
are useful things to scatter news, and so on this occasion it
did not take long for people to hear that Miss HARMON and I had
arrived in the neighborhood. In fact, some heard us singing that
night over the phone for they left the receiver down for that
purpose. I think, perhaps, it was the next day that we reached
our final destination, and that was the home of a Mr. Cox. His
wife had died sometime before this, and he himself was not at
home but his children were, and they had with them their grandmother,
whom I will call Aunt Sallie. I had know her as far back as I
could remember, and we LIVED NEAR THEM FOR YEARS, DURING MY PARENTS'
LIFETIME.... THEIR HOME WAS RIGHT IN SIGHT OF MY OLD HOME PLACE
AND WAS NEAR THE CEMETERY IN WHICH MY DEAR PEOPLE WERE BURIED."
I feel that someone from that area would know from this writting
where the cemetery would be from the owner ship of property.
Also she continues to say ..."our nearest neighbor, Mr.
G. W. DALTON came to listen." So, first who is Nancy MITCHELL
married too, and second where are my Grandparents buried so I
can continue my family tree and visit this summer the "old
homestead". Many thanks to anyone that can help. Mary F.

- I am researching the families of Andrew J. NUNN,JR. and Carlie
Della BREEDING. They married on Aug.18,1899 in Pulaski County.
They were my grandparents, my mom being Littie Florence Nunn.
I know brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents and
gr..... on Andrew NUNN 's side of the family. Carlie (CALLIE
on marriage certificate) is a different story. Need her parents,
siblings grandparents. Know her mother was Amanda WILLIS m. to

- I am searching for any info on Reuben Perry LOVELL, he married
Lucretia HALL on May 25,1853 in Pulaski Co,Va.by Rev.Richard
Buckingham.I have the descendants for this family,I can't seem
to find parentage of Reuben.If anyone has an idea of who his
parents I would be forever grateful.I have seen a Hiram LOVELL
and a few others on cenus documents but I don't know if they

- Am looking for Joseph SCOTT born about 1765 in Frederick
Co,Md and there until 1800. Appears next in Giles Co,Va in 1810.
There until 1821. Then disappears. Children: Joseph SCOTT, Jr.
probably born in Md before 1790. Married somewhere appears in
Giles Co, Va in 1815 tax list and is in 1820 census then disappears.
George SCOTT born about 1790 probably in Md. Married in Giles
Co in 1816 to Cynthia POOLE and lives in Giles Co until 1840
? Then disappears. Henry SCOTT born between 1790 and 1795 probably
in Md. Married in Giles Co in 1816 to Mary Elizabeth CRINER,
d/oAndrew CRINER and Ann. He is in the 1820 census only but is
in other Giles Co records in 1842 and 1858 but then disappears.
Also looking for any information on James A SCOTT, son of John
O SCOTT and Elizabeth Evaline CRINER ,born about 1858 and died
before 1930. He married at sometime before 1878 to Ollie Francis
WHEELER who may have been from Pulaski county.
