PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. B.D. SMITH and Mrs. Harold BEAMER and little son, Robert Lewis, expect to leave tomorrow for a six weeks stay in St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. G.H. LIVELY spent the week-end in Beckley, W. Va. Mrs. Ocie WHITE and daughters, Miss Ruth and Miss Louise are now domiciled in the Nunally apartments. Clarence PAINTER spent yesterday in Bland on business. Mr. and Mrs. T.M. PAINTER returned yesterday from Landgraff, W. VA., where they have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. Nester PERDUE and Mr. PERDUE. Mrs. Fred COLE and daughter, Sally, and son, Fred, Jr., will leave tomorrow for Abingdon, where Mrs. Sally VANCE will join them for a two months stay in Duncedin, Florida. Mountain View Bert SMITH, of Coalwood, W. Va., spent Saturday with his daughter, Mrs. Jeff HALSEY. Raymond COVEY was a visitor in Pulaski Saturday. Mrs. Keath PEERY and children, of Norton, spent the past weekend with relatives here. Mrs. Kenneth PHILLIPS and son, Marzelle, was calling in the home of D.S. COVEY today. Misses Emma and Lillie MOREHEAD were calling on Mrs. A.C. HALSEY Sunday night. Mrs. COLLINS who has been very ill remains about the same. Mrs. J.K. MELTON, Mrs. J.F. KING and Walter INGLES motored to Wytheville Thursday. Miss Evelyn KING, of Greenhill, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. KING. N.C. FARMER remains very ill at this home here. Snowville Misses Margaret SUMMERS, Marie ELMORE, Carmel and Kathryn SHOWALTER were in Pulaski last Saturday attending a teachers’ meeting. They were accompanied by Misses Helen ELMORE and Beulah SHOWALTER. Miss Louise SMITH, who recently accepted a position in Draper school under the CWA spent the weekend at her home here. E.C. GRIGSBY, county agent, was here last Friday, holding a corn-hog reduction meeting for the farmers of this vicinity. Mrs. C.W. COVEY entertained last Thursday evening with an old-fashioned “spelling bee.” After the spelling contest, prizes were awarded to the winning contestant. Refreshments of sandwiches, cookies, candy and punch were then serves to the guests. Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. L.E. MOSELY, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. COVEY, Misses CARMEL, Eugenia and Winefred SHOWALTER, Marie and Helen ELMORE, and Bob WALTERS, Paul ROOP and Erie ELMORE. Misses Ollie SHANKLIN and Annie PAGE, Mrs. C.S. THOMPSON and J. E.
