Miss Grace Glenna GALLEMORE, 59, died Sunday in a Wytheville hospital. She was a sister of Mrs. James SHEPHERD, Pulaski.
Surviving besides Mrs. SHEPHERD are two sisters, Mrs. George D MIDKIFF, Wytheville; Mrs. Burton E. BURNETT, Austinville.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bethany Methodist Church, Austinville, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Mustard and the Rev. George Arnold. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at Barnett’s Funeral Home in Wytheville until an hour before the service.

SALEM – Edith B. Gallimore, 70, of Salem went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 17, 2005. She was born Oct. 4, 1934 in Allisonia, Va. a daughter of the late Earl A. and Beulah Morrison Gallimore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lonnie and Paul Gallimore, and Clyde Smith, and sisters, Callie Basham and Dorothy Hollandsworth. Edith was a graduate of Draper High School and retired from J. Weiner and Company after 45 years of service. She was a member of New Life Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are her brothers, Carl Russell Gallimore and wife Helen of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; Donald Randolph Gallimore and wife Wyoma, of Huntington, W. Va.; Gordon W. Gallimore and wife Darlene of Roanoke; sisters, Ruby King of Mt. Airy, N.C.; Peggy Christine Cassell and husband Claude of Collinsville; and Betty Thomas of Salem. Numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the building fund at New Life Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5745 Airport Road Roanoke, Va. 24012 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21 at New Life Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Jason Forehand, the Rev. Walter Wood, and the Rev. Frankie Graham. A graveside service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Appalachian Conference Cemetery Dublin, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

STONY POINT, N.C. - Gilmer Marvin Gallimore, age 63 a resident of 235 Riggs Road, Stony Point died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. Born May 1, 1941 in Pulaski County, Virginia a son of the late William L. and Vinecy Dalton Gallimore. Prior to his illness, he was employed in textile as a rewinder. Mr. Gallimore was married to the former Margaret Roark who survives of the home. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Sara Chapman of Statesville, three sons, Marvin, Bobby and Jackie Gallimore all of Statesville, ten grandchildren and two brothers, Graham Gallimore and David Gallimore both of Barren Springs, Va. Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Crestview Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. George Freedale. The family will assemble at the home of Mack and Sarah Chapman, 2386 Old Mountain Road, Statesville and will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Reavis Funeral Home in Statesville. The family of Mr. Gallimore is being served by Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville.

Funeral services for Mrs. D.W. Gallimore, 66, who passed away at her home on Fifth Street, southeast, late Friday afternoon will beheld from the Jefferson avenue Christian church at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon. Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery, the Rev. George W. Phelps being in charge.
The deceased passed away after an illness of two weeks, death finally coming as a result of a number of ailments and complications. She was born in Carroll County on April 22, 1867. On August 8, 1883 she was married to Dave W. Gallimore. Her maiden name was Lutitia Ann McGee. For the past 49 years she has been a member of the Christina church. Last year she celebrated her golden wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband, she is survived by ten children, seven daughter and three sons, Mrs. L.E. Hawkins, Roanoke; Mrs. C.N. Armbrister, Max Meadows; Mrs. Helen G. Kegley, Bristol; Mrs. Wayne Powell, Irvin, Ky.; and Mabel, Sybil, and Rita, Pulaski; Delmis and McKinley, Pulaski; and Blaine, Cumberland, Md. Other survivors include the following sisters, Mrs. Betty McGee, Duenweg, Mississippi; Mrs. Wes Caviness, Leadwood, Missouri; brother, Melvin McGee, Flat River, Colorado; Ross McGee, Leadwood, Missouri.
One son Burgess E. preceded Mrs. Gallimore in death six months ago; her father Madison McGee died three months ago at the age of 91 at Zincville, Okla.
She had been a resident of Pulaski for 30 years and leaves a host of friends.

PULASKI - Pearl Rosenbaum Gallimore, age 85 of Pulaski, died Friday Oct. 7, 2005 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born Sept. 3, 1920 in Wythe Co., Va., she was the daughter of the late Dora Spraker Rosenbaum & James Rosenbaum. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, active in the Molly Keister Circle, & a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Pulaski Co. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; James Rosenbaum, & sisters, Rosalee Blakeslee, & Cecil Kincer. She is survived by her husband of 68 years; Clarence Gallimore: a son; James E. Gallimore of Ocala, FL: 3 brothers; Frank Rosenbaum of Wythe Co., David Rosenbaum of Salem, Va., & Robert Rosenbaum of Wythe Co.: a sister; Hazel Saams of Muncy, PA. Also survived by 1 grandchild & 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Thursday October 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons with the Rev. Terri Sternberg officiating. PULASKI – George Washington Galloway, Jr. age 87 of Pulaski, died Friday, Mar. 10, 2006 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born Mar. 31, 1918 in Radford, he was the son of the late Mattie Maude Chase Galloway and George Washington Galloway, Sr. He was a member of the Pythagoras Masonic Lodge #239 A.F.&A.M., a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army, and a self employed general contractor. One of his last projects was the chapel addition to Seagle Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Chaffin Galloway of Pulaski: a son, George W. “G.W.” Galloway, III and his wife Peggy H. Galloway of Dublin. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Mar. 12, at 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons with the Rev. Weston Guthrie officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Mrs. Maude Chase Galloway, 86, died Sunday morning in Highland Manor Nursing Home, Dublin, after an extended illness.
Born in Fordtown, Tenn., the daughter of the last Thomas E. Chase and Mary Cox Chase, and preceded in death by her husband George Washington Galloway Sr., she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Radford.
She is survived by three sons, Lee Autis Galloway, Catawba; Olaf E. Galloway, Shawsville; and George W. Galloway Jr., Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. Clyde E. Collins, Christiansburg, and Mrs. William Jewell, Wilmington, Del.; one sisters Mrs. Leland Mitchell, Jonesboro, Tenn.; also ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Tuesday from Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Hershey J. Longnecker officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

Helen R. Galyen, age 75, of Lansdale, PA. died Tuesday, July 22nd at HCR ManorCare in Allentown, PA. She had been in failing health. Born in Dublin, Vir. on May 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Troy Doyle and Lena Cox Rorrer. She graduated from Pulaski High School in Virginia, and attended James Madison College in Virginia from 1946 to 1948. Mrs. Galyen was a former member of First Methodist Church in Galax, Vir. She had lived in Whitemarsh Twp., PA for 30 years before moving briefly to Harleysville, PA and then to Lansdale, PA. Mrs. Galyen worked with the first IBM Computer in Phila. during the 1950’s at the Army Signal Supply Depot. Her husband I. Zane Galyen died in Oct., 1996. Surviving is a daughter Tracey L. Lutz and her husband of Kempton, PA. and a son Stuart A. Galyen of Piney Point, MD; 2 sisters Alice Bottomley of Galax, Vir. and Patricia Kane of Ashboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by a brother Troy Doyle Rorrer, Jr. There will be an informal gathering in the Community Room at Dock Manor, 1100 Dock Dr. (off Detweiler Rd) in Towamencin Room Twp on Saturday, July 26 from 11 to 3 PM including a prayer service at 12 noon. Funeral services for the late Edwin Craig Gannaway, 78, prominent Draper resident and business man who died Sunday night were held at 11 am yesterday from the Draper’s Valley Presbyterian church.
Services were conducted by the Rev. George H. Gilmer, who performed the ceremony at Mr. Gannaway’s wedding 44 years ago, and Dr. W.W. Arrowood pastor of the Pulaski Presbyterian church. Interment was in the church cemetery in the valley.
Active pallbearers were Daley Baker, William Jennings, Stephen McGavock, John Allison, O.P. Jordan Jr., and Frank Graham.
A quiet unassuming man devoted to his family and friends throughout his long life and noted for his many acts of charity to those in need. Mr. Gannaway’s character and the esteem with which he was held in the community was attested by the large throng, both white and colored, which attended the simple but impressive last rites. The profusion of flowers also spoke of the number who knew him and who called him a friend.
Mr. Gananway died at 9:30 pm Sunday in the Pulaski hospital following an extend illness.
Born October 13, 1865, in the old Allison home at Boiling Springs, Wythe County, Mr. Gannaway had live practically all his life in Draper. He headed the Draper Mercantile company said to be the oldest store in Pulaski count for many of the 58 years he was actively connected with the firm.
He was one of the original directors of the Peoples National bank here, a founder of the old Bank of Draper, and since the merger several years ago with the Pulaski National Bank, has served as director of the latter institution.
A son of Mary T. Allison and Thomas M. Gannaway both of Wythe County, Mr. Gannaway married the former Miss Parke Anderson of Price Edward County in 1900 at Bedford Va. to which union five children were born. He was a member of the Elks and the Draper’s Valley Presbyterian church.
Mr. Gannaway attended Trinity College, now Duke University.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Walter Giles Jr. of New York City; and Miss Elizabeth Gannaway at home; two sons, Pvt. Lawrence Gannaway of Barksdale field, La.; and Gilmer C. Gannaway of Draper; a brother J.L. Gannaway of Draper; and two sisters Mrs. W.C. Jennings of Draper and Mrs. T.J. Pierce of Kingsport. A granddaughter, Betty Cabell Giles also survives.

She was born in Pulaski on January 12, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Luther KANE and Agnes Wolfe KANE. Surviving are her husband, George Gilmer GANNAWAY, Draper; two daughters, Sandy G. CARSON, Abingdon; and Sally G. BEAHM, Roanoke; one son, William G. GANNAWAY, Winston - Salem,N.C.; and four grandchildren. RADFORD * Fernande Aimee Gard, 77 of Radford, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and taught at Radford University from 1966 until her retirement in 1990 as Professor Emerita in fashion design. She received her B. A. from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, her M. A. from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Texas and her Ph.D. from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. Survivors include a nephew, Jean Mark Gard of Mons, Belgium. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Patrick Golden officiating. Graveside services will be private. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the St. Jude Catholic Church. Arrangements are being handled by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.

She was born in Carroll Co. on May 7, 1914, and was the daughter of the late Fred Blankenship and Rebecca Hicks Blankenship. She was preceded in death by her husband Lowman A. Gardner. She was a retire employee of Jefferson Mills, Pulaski with 25 years of service. Surviving are: daughters, Iris Brown of Ruby, S.C., Mary Murphy of Dublin; step-son, Alfred M. Gardener of Roanoke; sister, Hettie Gravley of Hillsville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. BLUE RIDGE * Mary Davis Gardner 68 of Blue Ridge, Va. passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003. Mary was kind-hearted, beautiful, and sweet; she was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and grandmother. Mary worked for IUE Local 161 for 34 years and was retired. Mary served in many capacities serving her union founder for the Coalition of Labor Union Women Southwestern Virginia Chapter, member of the Sixth District Democratic Committee and Botetourt County Democratic Committee. Mary was a professional woman who had high values and standards and lived life in those ways speaking out for the good of mankind. Mary was preceded in death by her father Henry B. Davis and a daughter Deborah Lynn Gardner. Surviving are her loving husband Alfred M. Gardner; her daughters Deborah Kay Gardner and Sharon Fay Schimek and
granddaughter Janette Hawks in Roanoke; her mother Ella S. Davis, brother and sister-in-law Wilma and Bob Davis in Dublin; sister and brother-in-law Jean and Joe Ceola in Fincastle; brother William B. Davis in Pulaski. ROANOKE – Betty Morefield Gaston passed away on Oct. 5, 2004 in Roanoke, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin (Doc) and Elsie Morefield, husband Virgil, son Gary and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are daughter Denise Lindsey, grandchildren Paris, Crystal, and Angela Smith. Also Chris Gaston (son of Gary Gaston). Also surviving are sisters Bobbie Duncan, Patsy Ballinger, sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jack Livesay and brother and sister-in-law, James (Jimmy) and Bertha Morefield and several nieces and nephews. GEMMELL, the reired co-owner of Gemmell's Transfer in Pulaski was born in Pulaski on October 2, 1906. He was the son of the late Thomas and Karl Roberts GEMMELL.
He is survived by his wife Manilla HENDRICKS GEMMELL; one sister Mrs. Mary BROWNE, Cashiers, NC and five brothers, T. James GEMMELL, Carl William GEMMELL, Robert GEMMELL, and Ralph S. GEMMELL, all of Pulaski, and Charles L. GEMMELL of North Tazwell.

James William Gettys, 60, of Draper, Va. died suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003. He was born in Ashville, N. C. on Oct. 29, 1942 and was the son of the late William and Mary Blanton Gettys. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski. He retired from the Pulaski County Public Schools in 2001.
Surviving are: his wife, Julia Massie Gettys, Draper; mother-in-law, Mrs. Thomas “Louise” Massie, Pulaski; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shannon M. and James T. Turner, Dublin; niece, Mrs. Chad “Patricia” Davis, Christiansburg; nephew, J. Mrs. W.B. Gibbs, 83, who died yesterday at her home on East Sixth Street, was one of Pulaski’s oldest and best known citizens, and loved for her generous nature. She was born August 7, 1856 at Broad Ford, Rich Valley, Smyth County. Her maiden name was Ella Raider and she was the only child of Sarah Ann Urps and Joseph Raider. Her maternal grandparents were Rebecca Bishop Urps and Turner Urps, and great grandparents, Alexander Bishop and Ruth St. John Bishop, the Bishop and St. John families being prominent in the early history of Eastern Virginia.
Her first marriage was to Turman Bullard Meredith, who died in 1892. To this union, Georgia Sprinkle Meredith, who death occurred in 1918, and Merle M. Meredith of Columbus Ohio. In 1898, she married William B. Gibbs, who survives her, no children having been to this union.
For many years Mrs. Gibbs was a faithful member of the Christian church but in recent years joined the Presbyterian Church and attended services at Anderson Chapel when her health permitted.
Other survivors besides her husband and son include a half sister, Mrs. J.H. Barbary of Independence and a half brother Joseph Swartz of Roxboro, N.C.; the following grandchildren, Mrs. Temple Painter, Pulaski; J. Glenn Daughtery, Roseville, Mich.; Milton DeVault, Mrs. H.H. Duncan, Kingsport; Charlton DeVault, Appalachia, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral serviced will be conducted at the Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock with Dr. W.W. Arrowood in charge. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Pallbearers include Hensel Eckman, Clay Carlton, R.W. Stambaugh, W.D. Macgill, W.M. Farmer, J.C. Harman, W.M. Board, and F.J. Bell.

Alethea Murphy Gibbs, 88, formerly of Valley St., Pulaski died early Thursday morning, March 16, 2000 in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
She was born in Thorpe, W VA on Oct. 14. 1911, and was the daughter of the late B. M. Murphy and Elizabeth King Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gibbs; and by one son, Robert William Hensley; and by a daughter, Rebecca Jones.
Surviving are two special granddaughters, Pam Hensley of Pulaski, Sandra Morris of Tucson, Ariz.; two step-daughters, Esther Dalton of Pulaski Peachie Scott of Pulaski; two step-sons, Arlie Gibbs of Ohio, Donnie Gibbs of Pulaski; an aunt, Anna Marie King of Pulaski; several other grandchildren and a special friend, Ruth McGuire of Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randall Lawrente officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Friday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m.

A message received there Tuesday afternoon brought the announcement to relatives of the death of Dr. C.C. Gibson of Abingdon, which occurred that afternoon at one o’clock from heart trouble. It seemed increditable in that only the day before Dr. Gibson had left Dublin for his home after spending the weekend at the homes of Frank Gordan and W.A. Guthrie, having apparently been in his usual health.
The deceased was 53 years of age. His wife was Mrs. Bessie Gordan Preston, a daughter of Mrs. M.M Gordan, a sister of Frank Gordan of Dublin, who with Miss Ada Guthrie attended the funeral which was held this (Wednesday) afternoon.

RADFORD * James "Jimmy" Leo Gibson, Sr., 75, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004 at his home in Radford. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was employed with Jewell T. Co. for 17 years doing home delivery, was a laborer with Lynchburg Foundry for 14 years, was a loom fixer at Burlington Mills and retired from the City of Radford after 6 * years. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the NRV Bowlers Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Nelson Gibson, son, Jim Gibson, Jr. and Linda. Survivors include two daughters, Marti Carr of Dublin, and Yvonne Gaines of Radford; two sons, Jerry D. Gibson of Radford, and Larry D. She was born in Pulaski County on Oct. 15, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Frank Gerbrich and Florence Duncan Gerbrich. She was a retired employee of Pulaski Laundry. Surviving are: her daughter, Debbie B. Viers, Max Meadows; sister, Rachel Smith, Md.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Gibson will be cremated. WYTHEVILLE - Robert Lee Gibson, age 94 of Wytheville, Va. passed away Monday, August 1, 2005 in Asbury Place after a short illness. He was born February 6, 1911 in Wythe County, son of the late Robert L. and Pearl Akers Gibson. He was a member of Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church and had operated the Wytheville Cannery for 35 years and was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. Gibson, Thomas Gibson and a sister, Mary Gibson Reed. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bessie "Bess" Jackson Gibson; two sons, Robert "Bob" Gibson of Radford, Ronald G. "Ronnie" Gibson of Wytheville; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two half-sisters; one half-brother. Vivian was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Radford and she retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant with 38 years service. LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Thomas (Tommy) R. Gill, 60, of Larchmont, NY, died at the VA Medical Center in New York City on Nov. 9, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gill. Surviving are his beloved son, Justin, of Norwalk, CT; friend and former wife, Carmela DeCarlo, of Port Chester, NY; mother, Louise Adams, of Dublin, VA; sister, Pamela Fitzgerald, and her husband, Raymond, of New York City; brother, Jack Gill, and his wife, Linda, of Dublin, VA; and seven nieces and nephews. Tommy was a Vietnam Veteran, having served honorably as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends and coworkers for his generous spirit and for the fine work he performed for many years as “the Locksmith” at the VA Medical Center in NY. All who knew Tommy considered him to be a superior tradesman. A private memorial service will be held in NY in the near future to honor Tommy’s memory.

Last week the news of the death of Mrs. Basyl Gill, sister of William C. Dillow, was reported in the Dublin news. Tuesday Mr. Dillow received a dispatch announcing the sudden death of Mrs. G.E. Waugh at Orange Va. leaving this afternoon to attend her funeral. Mrs. Waugh was the mother in law of Mrs. Gill by a previous marriage. Mrs. Gill’s first husband G.E. Waugh, pr. Dying in Washington at a hospital about nine months after their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Gill had been married just two weeks when she was taken ill and taken to the hospital at Charlottesville, death results several days following an operation. Her body was buried at Pearisburg, the Dillow family home place. Now comes the announcement of another family connection.

PULASKI - Teddy Blaine Gillespie, age 70 of Tower Street Pulaski passed away Monday, January 23, 2006 at his home. Born July 24, 1935 in Mohegan, West Virginia he was the son of the late Thomas Joseph Gillespie & Blanche Abell Hill. One brother, Daniel Joseph Gillespie and one sister, Shirley McKinney Hall also preceded him in death. He loved to fish and fashioned himself a professional pool player. He will be dearly missed by a number of friends and family. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Howard C. Gilmer died at his home in Pulaski at an early hour Sunday morning. Though in ill health for some years he had continued an active interest in the community until the past few months during which time his conditions grew worse culminating in an attack Thursday night form which he never rallied, passing away peacefully at 10 o’clock Sunday morning.
Funeral services will be at his home on Fourth street this afternoon with Rev. D. Trigg James, pastor of the First Methodist church of Pulaski, of which Mr. Gilmer was a member, in charge, assisted by Rev. W.M. Morrell of Chattanooga, a former pastor. The Masons, member of Pythagoras lodge, of which lodge Mr. Gilmer was a past master, will have charge of the interment in Oakwood cemetery. Active pallbearers are J.F. Wysor, J.N. Bosang, W.S. Glimer, J.L. Wysor, H.H Roberts, J.P. Saul, C.C Jordan, and W.H. Wysor.
Survivors include widow, Lila Saul Gilmer, widely known by her religious, civic, and political actives; two children, H.C. Gilmer Jr. of Pulaski and Mrs. J.E. Sadler of Richmond; one brother A Gray Gilmer of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister Mrs. Guy H. Gilmer of Pulaski.
Howard Cecil Gilmer was born in Washington county, Va., on a farm near Abingdon on January 24, 1879, a son of Wyndham R. Gilmer, member of one of the oldest families to be established in Virginia and Margaret Cecil Gilmer of Pulaski County. He attended the public school of Washington county, Abingdon academy, and Emory and Henry college form which he graduated in 1899 with a degree of bachelor of arts and while there received the Robertson prize for ____. After his graduation he taught school in Russell county for one year, and then entered the University of Virginia where during 1902 and 1903 he took the legal course and was admitted tot eh bar July 1, 1903.
Coming at one to Pulaski he entered upon the practice of his profession. He early gave evidence of unusual ability and over the period of years up to his forced retirement in 1936, due to ill health, developed into on of the outstanding citizens and attorneys of the state. A forceful and courageous man with high ideas of conduct he commanded confidence and respect every where and at all times. During this long and active time, Mr. Gilmer was prominent in the Democratic party. He represented the county in the general assembly at the session of 1919. Likewise, he was interest in his church, the Pulaski First Methodist church, of which he was for many years a steward. Mr. Gilmer was and had been for a long time a member of the board of directors of the Pulaski National Bank.
On October 6, 1905, Mr. Gilmer married Miss Lila Saul of Salem and to them were born two children: H.C. Gilmer Jr., assistant US District attorney who married Mary Berkeley Cosby of Lynchburg and has three children, Berkeley, Sally Lou, and Betsy Washington; Lila Saul Gilmer, who married John Edward Sadler of Richmond, prominently connected with the Duplex Envelop Co., now a lieutenant for allied military government of occupied territory, and had two children John Edward Jr. and Lila Gilmer.

DRAPER — Agnes Lilly Rupe Gleason, age 88 of 4167 Old Route 100 Road, Draper passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born May 29, 1916 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Stuart Crockett Rupe & Bessie Wheeling Rupe. Her husband, Henry Thomas Gleason, one son, Robert Gleason and one brother, Samuel Rupe also preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Baker of Draper; four grandchildren, Thomas G. Baker, Jr. of Dublin, Robert D. Baker of Fort Chiswell, Hank Gleason of Wythe County and Vickie Beha of Murraysville, W.Va.; Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren. A Graveside funeral service will be conducted Sunday 2:00 P.M. at the Thornspring United Methodist Church Cemetery ,Pulaski with Rev. Earnest Chinault officiating. The body of William Gleason was brought to Pulaski Sunday from Greensboro, N.C. where he died the latter part of last week. Burial was made this morning in the Mount Olivet graveyard. He leaves a widow and several children. The deceased formerly lived here, having been a plaster by trade, but left several years ago for Greensboro where he had several children living.

Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Gardner Glendy, wife of C.D. Glendy early Sunday morning. The deceased was a daughter of Col. And Mrs. R.D. Gardner of Newbern, and 44 years of age. Her father was for many years the capable clerk of the county and also served in the Confederate army. She and her brother Lawrence of Roanoke and their cousins Mrs. Joseph C. Wysor and Judge Ro. L. Gardner were reared together, their father having died shortly afterwards the latter two having returned to Newbern from their southern home.
Mr. and Mrs. Glendy were married in December 1901, the ceremony having been performed by the Rev. J.B. Ward, who was then pastor of the Dublin Methodist circuit. One son was born, Earl.

Lt. Col. Ret. Donald White Glenn, 87, died Monday, Mar. 14, 2005. He was born in Pulaski County on July 29, 1917 and was the son of the late James R. Glenn and Elizabeth White Glenn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Richard Glenn, Jr. He was a 1939 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he was Colonel of the Corps of Cadets in his senior year. He retired from active Army duty in 1962 after 23 years of service. He served in Panama, World War II, Germany, Vietnam and the Pentagon with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. After retiring from the service he was a coordinator of Emergency Services for the State of Virginia. Surviving are: his wife, Helen L. Divers Glenn; son, Donald W. Glenn, Jr.; daughters, Lucy D. Glenn, Jean Glenn; sister, Mrs. Beth Swinburne. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski with Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. Mrs. Elizabeth White Glenn, 80, of 136 5th St. N.W., died Saturday morning in Pulaski Hospital following a period of declining health.
Well-known in the retail and real estate field, she had retired from the operation of a ladies store. She was a life-long member of the First Methodist church and a member of the WSCS.
Born in Campbell county, the daughter of the late James Martin White and Lavinia Laughon White, and preceded in death by her husband James Richard Glenn, she is survived by two sons, James Richard Glenn Jr. and Donald W. Glenn; a daughter, Mrs. Fred J. Swinburne, all of Pulaski; a brother J.A. White, Thomasville, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 2pm from Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Frank E. Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery.

William Preston Goad, age 80, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Hiwassee, Va., and was the oldest of 12 children.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. Mr. Goad retired as a sales manager for Kern’s Bakery, where he was employed for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Frances Wright Goad; four brothers, Gene Goad, Harold Goad, Charles Frank Goad and Alvin Goad; and a sister, Mary Frances Goad.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Blevins Goad; a daughter, Barbara Jean Vincill and husband Jerry, of Bristol Virginia; two sons, William Preston Goad Jr. and wife Dorothy, of Bristol Virginia, and Dwight David Goad and wife Sharon, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three sisters, Louise Tolbert of Dublin, Va., Marie Windell of Allisonia, Va., and Iris Chumbly of Bluefield, Va.; three brothers, Robert Goad of Pulaski, Va., Thomas Goad of Pennsylvania, and Elwood Goad of Christiansburg, Va.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arthur Gene “Sarge” Goff, 63, of 5773 Jones Drive, Dublin, Va., passed away Friday, June 13, 2003. Born April 29, 1940 in Pike County, Ky., he was the son of the late Henderson Goff and Lena Pauley Goff. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He was a member of the Highlands Park Community Church, Dublin. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Goff was a member of Henry Clay Lodge #280 AF & AM, Dublin. He was a Shriner and member of the Kazim Temple - Roanoke, and also a Scottish rites mason. Mr. Goff was retired from Klopman Mills with 28 years of service. Then he worked for D&S Distribution for five years and most recently worked for the Wackenhut Security Company as a security guard at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Sylvia Dalton Goff of Dublin; three sisters, Mary Lovern of Barren Springs, Bonnie Hinkley of Dublin, Loretta Wright of Radford; three brothers, Clancey Goff of Houston, Texas; Earl Goff of Wytheville, and Russell Goff of Wyandotte, Mich. SALEM – Samuel D. “Sam” Golladay, 75, of Salem passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. He was preceded in death by a son, David; and his parents, Samuel M. and Mary Marshall Golladay, Sam was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School and attended Virginia Tech. During the Korean Conflict, Sam served in the U. S. Navy. He was a past President of the Pulaski Lions Club, past Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary at Smith Mountain Lake and served as a Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board at First Christian Church in Pulaski. In addition to serving in numerous capacities at his church, he also served as a fundraiser for several civic organizations. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Carol Sutphin Golladay; sons, Richard D. Golladay and wife Kathy of Roanoke, Samuel Mark Golladay, of Newton Grove, N.C., Robert B. Golladay and wife Amy of Cary, N.C., and Peter S. David McGavock GOODWIN died on August 7th at his summer cottage at Ludington on the shore of Lake Michigan in his 69th year and buried at his late home in Louisville, Ky. Where he had resided for the past twenty years. Mr. GOODWYN had numerous relatives in Pulaski County and was the brother of Mrs. Grace J. McGAVOCK and the father of her nieces, Miss Marjorie and Miss Elizabeth GOODWYN, who had spent several summers with their Aunt here and made many friends in this city. Mr. GOODWYN was in the railroad service all of his life, having begun when 18 years at Houston Texas. WADESBORO - Mr. Joe Daniel Goodwin, 60, of Charlotte and formerly of Dublin, Va., died Monday, June 20, 2005 in Sardis Oaks Nursing Home in Charlotte. Mr. Goodwin lost his long and difficult battle with lung cancer. He was born in Scotland County, N.C. February 10, 1945 a son of the late Vernon Benjamin and Anna Allen Goodwin, and was reared in Anson County, N.C. Joe is survived by a son, Joe Hinkley of Dublin; sisters, Ann Allen Ratliff and Barbara Goodwin Dillard both of Charlotte; brother, James V. Goodwin , Albemarle; several nieces and nephews. Relatives here this morning received the sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Minerva Gose, which occurred last night at the home of her son-in-law Hugh Cassell, at Austinville. The deceased had been sick since Friday last from heart complications but the news of her death came very unexpectedly and was a shock to her relatives.
Mrs. Gose was a native of Wythe county, where the greater portion of her life of 74 years was spent. She was a Miss Hoilman previous to her marriage to S.M. Gose who died a number of years ago. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. George Porter of Rural Retreat; also two sisters, Mrs. M.E. Seagle of Pulaski; Mrs. Kate Boyer of Roland, N.C.; three brothers, H.T. Hoilman, Pulaski, D.B. Hoilman, Wytheville, and A.B. Hoilman, of Roanoke.
The funeral arrangement had not been announced at a late hour today.

Andrew Gott, confederate veteran and one of the oldest residents of the county, died last night at 9:30 o’clock at the home of his son W.M. Gott in the Shiloh section. He was taken ill just one week ago today and because of his extreme age, 82, his aliment failed to respond to medical treatment, it being realized from the first his condition was critical.
The body will be removed tomorrow, Wednesday, to his old home in the Mountain View section and the funeral service conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the home followed by interment in the family cemetery. Mr. James T. Trolinger, his comrade and friend of many years, will be in charge of the service.
Mr. Gott was born in Ireland. He came to this country at the age of nine with his parents. They lived in Baltimore, but later migrated to Pearisburg, Giles county, where the early part of his life was spent. He removed to Pulaski county about 38 years ago where he had since followed his vocation farming being a sturdy thrifty hard working man.
He married Miss Martha Miller of this county who died 14 years ago. Of this union ten children were born, four of whom preceded the father to the grave. Surviving are Mrs. C.L. Flynn of Pulaski, William M. Gott of Shiloh; A.C. Gott of near Dublin; Clyde Gott of Radford; Mrs. Myrtle Tabor of Princeton, W.Va.; and J.D. Gott of Jerome Idaho. The later is now enroute home having left yesterday. The family of one deceased brother resided at Pearisburg. The past several years he has been dividing his time among his children in this county. It was just ten days ago he left Mrs. Flynn’s for the home of his son, where he was taken ill within a few days. He was a man of staunch character and enjoyed the esteem of the large circle of friends.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Fletcher Gott; two daughters, CPO Catherine Gott and husband, Duane Evans, and Belinda Gott Padgett and husband, Ken Padgett; two stepchildren, Jason and Jennifer Ivey; two grandchildren, Sarah Evans and Jade Ivey; two sisters, Sue and Beth Cummings.
He graduated from Handley High School, Winchester, Va. and attended Danville Community College. He worked for E.I. Dupont in Waynesboro, Va., the Martinsville Police Dept., State Capitol Police Dept., Phillip Morris, and Wackenhut Security and was an amateur radio operator, call sign "AF4AE."
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 20, at new Dublin Presbyterian Church, Dublin, Va.

Augustus Monroe Graham died yesterday afternoon at his home in New River at 4:30, death resulting from complications. He was 67 years old.
One son, Frederick, died at the age of five, 27 years ago.
Deceased was born on February 8, 1856. On January 11, 1882 he married Miss Eliza Kersey of the county, who survived him and who is prominently connected throughout this section.
Mr. Graham is survived by a widow, one sister Mrs. J.W. Crowell of Pulaski; tow daughter, Mrs. F.F Elkins of Fires, and Miss Ruby Graham of the home place; and two sons, Arthur C. Graham of Spartansburg, S.C. and R.A. Graham of Pulaski.
Mr. Graham was the son of John and Martha Graham and was born in reared in the county.

She was a graduate of Pulaski high school and Katherine Gibbs school in Boston, and was employed by the government in Washington.

HILLSVILLE - Iver Gene Boyd Graham, age 65 of Hillsville, died Sunday morning March 5, 2006 peacefully at her residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Iver Gene fought hard and strong and she has now won the reward of healthy eternal life. Born March 17, 1940 in Wythe Co., she was the daughter of the late Iler H. Henley Boyd and Will Albert Boyd. She was a member of the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, and a former employee of the Steer House in Pulaski. She will be sadly missed but will always be remembered by all those who knew her. Jesse Davis Graham, 50 year old Snowville resident
employed with Rhinehart and Dennis at the Claytor
dam project on New River died Friday night at the Pulaski
Hospital, suffering from a fractured skull received when
he was struck by a falling board early in the afternoon.
A board from a concrete form which was being dismanteled
struck Graham. A son Herman Graham, stated that his father
was concious for a short while but shortly afterward lapsed
into a coma, dying at 10:15 p.m. He was taken by ambulance
to the hospital at 4 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Doshie Graham; two sons,
Herman and Victor; three sisters Mrs. Edna Clark, Mrs Mabel
Price, and Mrs. Nannie Wheeler of Radford; two brothers,
Robert and Hanford of West Virginia; and his parents Mr.

home in Snowville with internment following in the Riverview cemetery.
Mr. Graham was the third dam fatality since the start of contruction.

MAX MEADOWS - Devall F. "Jack" Gravely, age 77, of Max Meadows, Virginia, the Graham's Forge Community, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005, at his residence. He was born August 10, 1927, in Wythe County, son of the late Buford Foster and Lillie Hanes Gravely. He was retired from Volvo and was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Foster Gravely, his step-mother, Rosie B. Gravely, a sister, Margaret Terry and two brother, Eldridge and Kenneth Gravely. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fredda Quesenberry Gravely, a daughter, Sheila Gravley, four grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, four sisters, 3 brothers and several nieces and nephews. MAX MEADOWS- George William Gravley, age 80 of Max Meadows, VA (the Grahams Forge Community), died at his home Saturday March 12, 2005 after battling cancer for the past two years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, a life member of the lead mines rescue squad with 26 years of service, and a life member of the Max Meadows Fire Dept. He was born on April 1, 1924 in Wythe Co., the son of the late Lewis Field and Matilda Mae Rankins Gravley. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Paige Gravley, sisters, Willie White, Annie Ingo, brothers, Hosley, Lee, Howard, Lewis, Clinton and John Gravley. MAX MEADOWS - James Payton "Jim" Gravley, 85, of Max Meadows, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1918 in Wythe County, son of the late Thomas and Laura Dalton Gravley. He was a member of Pickett's Chapel Church of God and was retired from the New Jersey Zinc Company. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucile Quesenberry Gravley, two sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Tate Gravley; three daughters, Mae Koger of Max Meadows, Liz Payne of Galax, and Pat Stone of Austinville; four sons, Richard Gravley of Rural Retreat, Roby Gravley of Enace, N.C., Billy Gravley of Woodlawn, and David Gravley of Woodlawn; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Flatwood Church of God with Rev. Bobby Alley, Rev. Ronnie Stuart and Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

Dr. GREEN was born in Roanoke County, but had resided in Wytheville for many years, practicing most successfully his profession. Being immensely popular. His wife died about four years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Frank REED, of Ithaca, NY, and one sister, Mrs. F. H. TERRY, survive. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal church.

Betty Harden Greer, age 76, of Draper, died Saturday evening April 3, 2004 at her residence, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born May 20, 1927 in Virgil, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Anna M. O'Hara Harden and Clarence L. Harden. She was a member of the St. Judes Catholic Church in Radford. She graduated from Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS, and attended Radford University when her husband was transferred from the Sunflower Ordnance Works in 1958. She and her family then settled in Fairlawn. Betty was active in the PTA, serving as secretary, vice-president and president. She produced and directed a number of variety shows to raise money for the Fairlawn Volunteer Fire Dept., and taught school for 20 years at Dublin Elementary School, retiring in 1989. Betty was a firm believer in higher education, and all five of her children graduated from college with two obtaining higher degrees. She was well known locally as an accomplished photographer, with many of her photos appearing in local and national magazines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, B.L. Harden and R.G. Harden, one sister Katherine Colton and an infant daughter Laura. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Clyde P. Greer, Sr.: five children; Clyde P. Greer, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Frazier Park, CA, David Greer and his wife Mary Beth of Radford, Eileen G. Simpkins and her husband Shane of Draper, Brian Greer of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Daniel Greer and his wife Jennifer of Fairlawn: one brother Paul Harden and wife Trudy of Tuscon, AR: one sister, Marie Reynolds of Clearwater, KS. NEWBERN – Roy Dean Greer, 79, a longtime resident of Newbern, Va. died Tuesday night, May 24, 2005 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg. Mr. Greer was born in Todd, North Carolina on July 24, 1925 and was the son of the late Russell and Ada Greer. He attended Clevenger College majoring in business. He was an Army veteran having served in Europe during World War II. He later worked for over 30 years with Burlington Industries/Klopman Mills as a supervisor until his retirement in 1982. He was an active member and original elder of the Newbern Community Christian Church. He volunteered in the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the VFW. In retirement, Mr. Greer enjoyed gardening, biking along the New River Trail, square dancing and traveling. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his late wife, Ruby Cornett Greer who died in 1987. Mr. Gregory was Superintendent of the Water Works (Filtration Plant), having served 26 years. John Chester Gregory, 57, of 1109 Macgill St., died unexpectedly Monday morning in Pulaski General Hospital.
Born in Carroll County March 17, 1915, he was the son of the late John Wesley Gregory and Lydia Reynolds Gregory. He was a salesman for the Marion Bottling Company, and was an active member of the New River Valley Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel Eller Gregory; three sons, James Bruce Gregory, Christiansburg; Steven Wesley Gregory, Roanoke, and Perry Eugene Gregory, Pulaski; one daughter Mrs. Levon Howell, Pulaski; two sisters Mrs. Roscoe Rorrer, Pulaski, and Mrs. Robert Quesenberry, Draper. Also three grandchildren.

Ballard Preston Groseclose, 62, died this morning at his home 112 Northwood Terrance, Pulaski, following an extended illness. He was a longtime resident of Pulaski having come here with his family from Marion in 1911.
Funeral services will be held at First Methodist church Saturday at 3 pm. Dr. Frank E. Trotter and Dr. Frank Settle will conduct the service. The body be at Stevens Funeral Home but will be removed to the church one hour before the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Groseclose was active in the First Methodist church, a trustee board member, and church treasurer for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Dyer Groseclose; two sons William P. Groseclose, Charlotte and Leaksville, N.C.; Alan D. Groseclose, Pulaski; two grandchildren, Martha and Sally Groseclose, Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Hubert F. Groseclose, Pulaski; Dr. Eugene S. Groseclose, Lynchburg; Julian K. Groseclose, Richmond.
Groseclose was vice president of Tyler Drug Co., Inc., and had been in the drug business for nearly 20 years. Previously he had been associated in the hotel and insurance business. His father, the late J.K. Groseclose, in 1911, purchased Hotel Pulaski which was operated by the family for many years.

William Albert Groseclose, 61, of Pulaski, Norfolk and Western railroad engineer, died suddenly early today at Roanoke hospital following a heart attack.
According to information received here, Mr. Groseclose suffered the attached while piloting his locomotive Wednesday and was taken from the train at Elliston and rushed to Roanoke.
He started to work for the railroad as a fireman in 1903 and in May 1912 was promoted to engineer. He had been in continuous railroad service since 1903.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mollie Baker Groseclose; four daughter, Alberta Groseclose, Mrs. Ray Lester, and Mrs. Julian Moyers, of Pulaski, and Rena Sue Groseclose of Miami Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. W.R. Martin of Marion; Mrs. S. Bond of Radford; Mrs. A.C. Mathews of Woodlawn; and Mrs. J.F. Scott of Roderfield, W.Va.; and two brothers, L.E. of Roderfield, W.Va.; and P.J. of Hemphill, W.Va.
The body will be brought to his home at 150 Valley street today. Funeral arrangements had not been complete at press time.

Brenda Jean Dye Groth, age 60, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at home. She is survived by three children, Yvette “Pandy” Neyome, Anita Niswender and William Martin; one sister, Melody Smith; two brothers, John Dye, Timothy Dye; eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas. She was an RN at Foote Hospital for many years and was a traveling nurse. She received an award from the Mayor of Jackson in the 1970’s for saving a life. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held May 11at the Federation Church of Grass Lake, 519 E. Michigan Ave., Grass Lake at 11 a.m. There was no visitation. Desnoyer Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

DUBLIN – Clyde Elbert Grubb, 86, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 14, 2006, at Highland Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dublin. Clyde was born in Pulaski, Va., on Mar. 17, 1919, and was the son of the late Henry A. and Lucy H. Grubb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella P. Grubb, four sisters and five brothers. Clyde was a lifelong resident of Pulaski and worked for the Ford Motor Company, Radford Army Ammunition Plant and New River Oil Company. During World War II, he served in the Navy. Clyde was a member of the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church and a former member of the Rose of Sharon Lodge, Number 4. Surviving are: his daughter, Neferlyn Gray, New York; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian G. Miller, Pulaski and Mrs. Mable G. (Milton) Clark, Dublin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mable T. Grubb, Lilburn, Ga.; his caregiver and devoted nephew, Everett L. (Rosemma) Grubb, Sr., Pulaski; many nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, relatives, and friends. RADFORD - April Snow Burton Gusler, age 24 of Radford and formerly of Giles county passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004. Born June 14, 1980 in Bluefield, West Virginia, she is the daughter of William Bradley Burton and Susan Bonnie Johnson Thomas. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alan and Martha “Jodie” Burton; maternal grandparents, Roy James Johnson and Jettie Snow Wright Conley Johnson; two uncles, Woodrow Curtis Conley and Douglas McArthur Conley and three aunts, Helen Juanita Conley, Mary Sue Carroll and Joyce French and special grandfather “Paw-Paw”- Leslie Vance Quesenberry. April was a 1998 graduate of Narrows High School, a big Virginia Tech football fan and a wonderful mother. Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Lewey Gusler, 68, who died at the Pulaski hospital late Friday will be held from the family home on Eleventh street today at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Elton G. Jones of the Methodist church in charge. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Mrs. Gusler is survived by her husband, J.S. Gusler; three daughters, Mrs. G.H. Nicewander of Princeton, W.Va.; Mrs. J.P. Albert of White Gate; and Mrs. J.H. Wheeling of Pulaski; and two sons Clarence and Fred Gusler also of Pulaski. Nine grandchildren also survive.

Elsie Brinkley Guynn of Pulaski died Friday April 21, 2006 at her residence. Born in Wythe Co., Va., she was the daughter of the late Annie Faye Crowder Brinkley and Charlie Franklin Brinkley. She was a retired employee of the Randolph Home for Adults. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son David Webster Guynn, husband Nathaniel David Guynn, brother Charles J. Brinkley, sisters Thelma B. Shaver, Shirley B. Zenski, and Esther B. Slusher. She is survived by: one daughter; Barbara Clayton of New Castle: five Sisters; Nellie B. Anderson of Lakeland, FL, Judy B. Stark of Port Charlotte, FL, Laverne B. Whapples of Satelite Beach, FL, Roxie B. Ingle of Deland, FL, Linda B. Kay of FL: three brothers; Ernest F. Brinkley of Sacramento, CA, James D. Brinkley of Marinna, FL, and Frederick Brinkley of Daytona, FL. Also survived by one grandson, and one great grandson, and one great granddaughter. Funeral services for Garland Guynn, 30, were held from the home on Peppers Ferry Road Monday at 11 o’clock by the Rev. Luther Mauney. Burial followed in the Newbern cemetery.
The decease is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Guynn and three sisters, Mrs. A.W. Covey of Hiawassee; Katherine and Madeline, at home, in addition to a host of friends and relatives.

Born in Carroll County in 1882, the son of the late Harvey Guynn and Sarah Cochran Guynn, and a retired Norfolk and Western Railway employee, he is survived by his wife Mrs. Tabitha Grubb Guynn, three daughters, Mrs. Alice Covey, Hiwassee; Mrs. C.J. Bryant Sr., Pulaski; Mrs. Ed Morgan, Roanoke; three brothers, Walter and Floyd Guynn both of Wytheville; Mack Guynn, Pulaski; four sisters, Mrs. Blair Jackson, Pulaski; Mrs. Cora Mabry, Wythe county; Mrs. Bessie Butler, Pocahontas; Mrs. Jessie Ogle, Graham Forge; and four grandchildren.
The body is at Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home pending arrangements.

Melody LaVern Guynn, six months, died early this morning at her home, Route 2, Pulaski.
Survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Guynn; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. James Guynn all of Route 2 Pulaski.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am from the Shiloh Christian Church with burial to follow in the Shiloh cemetery.
The body will be removed from Strickler’s Funeral Home Thursday morning to the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Guynn to remain until the hour of the service.

She was born on January 26, 1925 in Patrick County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Meacie King Smith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and home maker. She was also proceeded in death by her husband, Otto Denton, her sister, Geraldine Lawson and by brothers, Marshall, Owen, Edgar, Frank, Clint, Clarence, Lee and Earl Smith. She was a longtime member of Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church in Pulaski. Surviving are her husband, Harvey Guynn of Pulaski; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Sandy Denton, Omaha, NE, Gerald "Jerry" and Patti Denton, Amelia, VA; step children and spouses, Jo Ann and Mark Joswick, Plainfield, IN, Terry and Mark Tilley, Pulaski, Michael and Terri Guynn, Killeen, TX, Rick and Lisa Guynn, Kernersville, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Patrick and Kris Denton, Omaha, NE, Daniel and Holly Denton, Omaha, NE, Kristin and Brian Joswick, Brooke and Logan Tilley, Robert and Kandra Guynn and Paul D.
