 Flory Farm Cemetery

Location

Cross Keys, Rockingham County, Virginia. From Harrisonburg, the corner of Route 11 (Main Street) south and Route 659 (Port Republic Road), travel east 7.3 miles on Route 659. Turn right onto Route 679 (Battlefield Road). Go 2/10ths mile to the first house on right (north side) 6097 Battlefield Road. Cemetery is about 100 feet behind the house. Private property so check with owner to visit the cemetery.
 

Notes

All notes are from Thomas Flory. Cemetery is in terrible shape. It is possible others may be buried here and headstones covered with earth. There are a few foot tombstones visible within the cemetery. Contact ThomasFlory@aol.com for more information.

Sarah CARPENTER KIBLINGER was born Salome ZIMMERMANN probably in the Cub Run area of Augusta (now Rockingham) Co, VA to George ZIMMERMANN (aka George CARPENTER) & Anna SCHÖTTLI. She was baptized 13 Jul 1783 at Peaked Mountain German Reformed Church, and her baptismal record lists her birth as 22 Aug 1771 (not the Aug 1770 given on her tombstone). She married Peter KIBLINGER 10 Jun 1791 at Augusta Stone Church. She died 18 Sep 1858 in the Mill Creek area of Rockingham Co, VA according to the information given in the Rockingham County Courthouse by her grandson Edward PENCE (a substantial tree has grown quite near the tombstone, but it seems to read Died Sep. 19, 1858 [sic, a day later than the report in the Courthouse]). Peter KIBLINGER was born 12 Aug 1767 in Brock's Gap, Augusta (now Rockingham) Co, VA to Philip KIBLINGER & Apollonia EIP. He married Salome ZIMMERMANN, aka Sarah CARPENTER, 10 Jun 1791 at Augusta Stone Church. He died 14 Apr 1848, presumably in the Mill Creek/ Good's Mill area of Rockingham Co, VA and is buried in the Flory Farm Cemetery.
