My name is David Reedy and my grandfather and great grandfather were born in Rockingham County. Sylvester Reedy b 1887 to John N. Reedy and his first wife. John was born to catherine Reedy (out of wedlock) in 1857. This is the information I have. Sylvester moved to Prince William county and married Annie Reading. Their youngest son is my father, Lloyd. We are attempting to locate a connection between Christian (ne: Christopher) Bare, Bair, Bar, Bear (b. circa 1792) of the Lynville Creek area, Rockingham County, Virginia. Possible connections to David Brenneman through marriage to Fanny Brenneman (b. 1794). We are looking for solid connections to either Jacob Bear, Switzerland (m. Barbara Miller) or his brother John Bear (m. Elizabeth Miller, Barbara's sister, both daughters of Adam Miller, the first European settler of the Shennandoah Valley.) Fanny Brenneman Bare is buried outside of Morris, Whiteside County, Illinois (d. February 1867) with one John Bare, son, (d. 1870). Her odysey included stops in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; Putnam County, Ohio; and Fayette County, Iowa. Her son David[the older] is my 2X Great Grandfather and is buried in Nebraska with his wife Mahala Crow, of Kentucky or Ohio.Christian Bare, Bear, or Bar is my 3X Great Grandfather.

TAYLOR, John - b. 1793, Rockingham Co., Virginia. I am researching my g-g-grandfather, John TAYLOR. I am trying to find information on his parents and siblings. He was married to Mary Margert, b. 1794. John Taylor migrated to Madison County, Indiana and is buried in Pendleton, Indiana. I do not know when he came to Indiana or if he was married at the time. John and Mary had 12 children. They were: Samuel, Mary, Mahala, Nancy, Betty, Isaac, John, Jacob, James, Armstrong, Andrew Burns and Henry. I would be glad to share any of this information.

Their son (my gGrandfather), WILLIAM FRANKLIN RITCHIE, was born 18 October 1842 in Rockingham Co., VA. Index for 1850 Census reports a GEORGE RITCHIE living in Rockingham Co., VA, in District 56.About 1855, the family moved to Ft. Scott, KS, where George died within a few months of the move; the widow and her son (W.F. Ritchie) moved to Bloomington, IL.

My great grandparents: Fannie Rebecca BULL/BUHL (b 9 Jul 1859, Rockingham Co.; d 19 Nov 1951, R'ham) and Emanuel E. DERROW (b 21 Apr 1856, R'ham; d 19 Apr 1921, R'ham) m 8 Jul 1877, R'ham. Fannie's parents were Henry BULL/BUHL (b 1831/1832, R'ham) and Elizabeth "Bettie" REED (b 1837/1838, VA), who m 14 Dec 1856, R'ham. Although family "lore" says Henry BULL's wife was Elizabeth FREEZE, R'ham Co. marriage record cites "REED". Henry's father was probably John BULL/BUHL who married Frances "Francy" SHIRKEY, abt 30 Jan 1826, R'ham (per marr. rec.). Need proof that Henry's parents were John and Frances, and any other info on him and wife, Elizabeth, and other BULL/BUHLs in R'ham.
