LAYMAN, LEHMAN, LEMAN posted by Earl R. Layman, on Thursday, October 15, 1998

LEHMAN, LAYMAN, LEMAN; Joseph Layman, whose wife's name was Anna, sold land in Rockingham Co., VA in 1779. Later that year he became the first Layman, by any spelling, to appear on a record in Botetourt Co. when he purchased land from Alcorn. He died in Sevier Co, TN after 1808. I seek to establish his relationship to my line to whom he always seemed to remain in proximity.

Does anyone know if all the RUSH folks in Rockingham and Augusta Counties about 1760-1850 are related? My Peter RUSH (1764 Rockingham Co-1815 Aug. Co.) was son of Carl RUSH/RISCH (1730 Germany-1806 Rockingham Co.) If there's more than one line, who are the other founders? Have lots of RUSH info to share. Lynne Rush Hundley
