Adam Eli CONN was born in Rockingham in 1802. He was son of Samuel CONN and Mary MEYERS. I can't seem to find anything about this family at all however the ELI (or ELY) as a middle name keeps showing up for generations so I suspect there is a tie to that family.

Looking for info on an Ellenora H. Jones married Joseph Coffman of Rockingham Co VA. She would have lived sometime in the mid 1800's. They had 2 sons that I know of Charles Coffman married Annie Hinegardner and Lafayette Coffman married Bertha Lokey. Charles was a twin but don't the name possibly a female. Seeking info. on NANCY JANE CUNNINGHAM, per family lore she was born in ROCKINGHAM CO., VA. probably ca. 1772-1796. Also per later descendants, she had some Native American blood in her line. She was described as a "small, very Irish looking woman" by one of her grandsons. She married EDMUND/EDWARD CONNER/CONNOR, date and place unknown at this time. At least one child of marriage is PATRICK DOHERTY/DOUGHERTY CONNER/CONNOR, b. ca. 1812-1813 in OHIO, possibly HAMILTON CO., OH. An EDMUND CONNER and PATRICK CONNER are both listed in HAMILTON CO. OH census for 1830. PATRICK D. CONNER/CONNOR m. 1st? to JANE MONROE, related to PRESIDENT JAMES MONROE. She died in childbirth March 6, 1844 in ATHENS CO., OH, after giving birth to BENJAMIN MONROE CONNER/CONNOR on March 3, 1844. JANE MONROE CONNER/CONNOR also is most likely the mother of these other children -- FERNANDO CONNER/CONNOR, b. abt. 1833 in OH, served in Civil War; AMANDA M. CONNER/CONNOR, b. abt 1841-42 in OH, possibly d. between 1850-1860; and WINTER D. CONNER/CONNOR b. abtt. 1843-43 in OH. WINTER D. CONNER/CONNOR was killed in the Civil War. NANCY JANE CUNNINGHAM CONNER/CONNOR died in ATHENS CO., OH ca. 1858-1860.

My great grandfather was from a town in Rockingham County called Daphne. He is buried at an old Dunkard Church there. His name is Alfred Alexander Argenbright. Looking for some additional info on him. I have come up with very little.

I would like to contact other researchers of the WILTSHIRE family tree. I am a descendant of William Wiltshire, b. 1765, who was living in King and Queen County in 1787 at age 21. His father may have also been named William Wiltshire. He had a brother named Joseph. He married Mary Gaines in 1791. He moved to Orange Co. in about 1796. I am looking for any ideas as to tracing family of John S. SMITH in Rockingham County ca 1770 -1780 Married to Barbara. I believe they lived in and around Timberville or Tenth Legion. One son was John L. Smith who married into the DRIVER family of Rockingham. Many of these decendants later went to the Iowa territory in 1850. Any web sites that may have data that you know of. I am searching for MAGALIS ancestors who, I believe, lived in the Rockingham County area from 1879 through 1894 (?). Great grandmother Anne Harper Magalis wife of Richard M. Magalis died in 1890 and was most likely buried there. Family was Lutheran. Moved to Brunswick, MD by 1894 or so...Great grandfather - Richard Magalis worked for B&O railroad, according to family stories. Any help would be appreciated.

My Great Grandfather John Wesley Riggleman (1830 - 1926) told of his grandfather, a Hessian, who lived in Rockingham County. That Gentleman came with the Hessian army during the revolutionary war.
