CARTER CEMETERY
ABOVE CARBO, VIRGINIA

LATITUDE/LONGITUDE
365548N 821134W (from USGS Quad Map: Carbo, VA)

DIRECTIONS
From Carbo, VA take Rt 664 East out of town. On the first bend to the right will be an old road going off to the left and up above the town. This leads to an open area that is the main part of the cemetery.

FIELD NOTES: 2/15/99
This cemetery is not visible from the road and part of it (the Carter section) is very well-kept and mowed. Around it is a chain-link fence. A pretty location, it is marred by the constant noise of the nearby steam plant.

FORMAT Note: Items in parenthesis are the best guess of the researcher. Items in brackets are my comments. A double stone is two people on one stone - usually husband and wife unless otherwise indicated. A field stone is a local stone used to temporarily, or sometimes permanently, mark the location of a family member. It is usually a flat stone propped up to resemble a headstone.
