I Charles Carrell of the County of Russell and State of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament hereby revoking and annul former wills and testaments made by me.

1st, I desire that any funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid out of my estate. I desire that all my surplus funds after paying my debts be reinvested in real estate. I hereby authorize my Executrix hereafter to sell the house and lot on which house stands whereon my father formerly lived containing about five or six acres so soon as the sum of two thousand dollars can be obtained for it. I also impower my said Executrix to sell the lands I own south of Samuel H. Nashes and north of John Stinson's, containing about two hundred and sixty nine acres when the sum of six dollars per acre can be had for the same. These lands may be sold on a credit of one, two and three years with interest from the time sale is made. The proceeds to be ivested in other lands. I bequeath to my wife Margaret J. Carrell all my real estate during her natural life. I desire that there shall be no appraisement of my estate my Executrix may sell my property on hand where she deems best privately or public. I hereby by appoint my wife Margaret J. carrell Executor of this my last will and testament. Given under my hand & seal this 23 day of May 1874.

I Charles Carrell do make this codicil to the above will. I desire that my wife Margaret J. Carrell have all my debts and personal property after paying my debts to use as she pleases. I also authorize and empower my said Executrix to make deeds for such lands as I have sold and not conveyed according to the contact made with the purchaser. In appointing my said wife Margaret J. Carrell Executrix I do not require her to give s____ for performing the duties as Executrix. Witness my hand and seal this 16 day of September 1875.

At a Court began and held for Russell County at the court house thereof on the 4th day of Jan 1876. The last Will and testament of Charles Carrell dec'd together with the codicil thereto annexed was this day produced in court and said will & codicil proved by the oath of Samuel W. Aston & Isaac B. Ficklethe two subscribing witnesses to said will as well to said codicil and ordered to be recorded.
