THE
HISTORY
OF THE
The
COAT
OF ARMS & COLORS
The
Coat of Arms of the National Society shall consist of a simple shield, divided
diagonally, left to right, surrounded by two ribbons, the upper ribbon bearing
the words,
NATIONAL
SOCIETY and the date, 1962,
the lower ribbon bearing the words
SOUTHERN DAMES OF
The
divided shield shall be in two colors, white and gold
with surrounding ribbon in blue and
white. The gold represents
richness of heritage and the white the
purity of purpose. The blue
of the scroll symbolizes loyalty – to
the Organization and to the Country.

PURPOSE
The
purpose of this Society shall be as follows:
To provide an organization in which
and through which women of southern
ancestry may combine their efforts to
promote benevolent, patriotic, educational
endeavors including, but not
limited to, promoting and encouraging the
study of political science
and lending assistance to development
and the application
of ophthalmic research.
