ROYALL I am looking for info regarding Captain William Royall who fought in the American Revolution , there in Halifax County, he was the son of my ancestor John Royall and Susanna Bates.   The records in the National Archives has his Revolutionary War pension claim # W. 8566. He appeared to have entered the service as a Captain of the Virginia Line. He served for the whole of the War and was listed as a Major at the close of the War. His place of residence at enlistment, after the war and date of death is not given in the papers on file in the Archives.
He married Anne Newport on November 18, 1797 in Botetourt County, Virginia. Anne was given the right as a widow to draw pension as a widow of a Rev. War Soldier on Sept. 8, 1848 while a resident of Washington, D.C. at age of 79 years. No other family members are listed.
